Just changed brand new black ink cartridge but printout for black is very faint even though the best print quality is chosen. All other coloured ink cartridges are more than half filled. Pls help.

You got it! Just take out the ink cartridges and take a cotton ball and dabble a small amount of alcohol on the ink outlets, then place back in and print right away, it is more than likely tha the port is dry. Please let me know if I can help further, a pleasure to help out! Guy

Checked ink cartridge's, two had dried out, still had ink in them but the exit apertures were blocked.

Colour Ink Jet Cartridges emptying during a black ink print run

Hi,
If you go to your printer properties, there should be a setting whereby you have to select the option to "PRINT USING BLACK CARTRIDGE ONLY". Make sure this option is selected, otherwise your printer will use ALL colors even if you only print black.
Let me know if you need any further assistance.
Best wishes,

Printer is refusing to print colour, with full colour ink tank.

Have you checked the ink levels in your cartridges? Ink can dry due to usage and also due to prolonged non usage.

New cartridges not printing

Sounds like the cartridges are faulty whihc does happen with non hp cartridges. try the cleaning process in the setup/tools menu. if this doesn't woprk send the cartridges back and get another set. The cartridges have their own printhead so it can only be the cartridges at fault

Vertical lines

1. Took out the ink carts and cleaned the copper contacts of both the ink carts.
2. Clean the copper contacts on the ink carts slot in the printer and then insert the ink carts in the printer and then print out the page.

Deteriorating Print Quality

This is Maltesecross. Turns out that the faintness of my printed pages was in fact due to a low ink cartridge, even though some pages printed out fine and others half-good. Eventually, all pages turned faint, and upon re-installing the driver, I got a low-ink warning (the first one ever). Putting in a new ink cartridge solved the problem for me.
