You can reformat the player in Windows Media Player - this will erase all songs (or you can delete the songs one by one in Windows Media Player). Microsoft's website has click-by-click instructions on how to do this - complete with illustrations. Just enter "Windows Media Player" as your search term - it will take you to the Windows Media Player help files.

I have a 4 gb sansa clip and when i try to put music on it it wont let me and says memory full but i deleted all the music i used to have nd it still says free 90 mb when i turn it on

Try this solution for deleting the music

Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio
Books, Apps,etc. from MP3 Player/Ipod
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
BE CAREFUL and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player.

My sansa does not have a delete option to delete music on the actual player. The manual says it does it is a refurbished model

According to my manual, the only way to delete music from the e270 is by connecting it to a computer and deleting it through that.

My sansa clip has maxed out space and won't turn on

Hello,

Sandisk has an Answers support site for the Sandisk players.
Searching for answers on the item space, links to next page:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/list/kw/space/r_id/101834/search

The first answer on not enough space for musicDB will give 2 options for deleting files, see next page:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/848

Option 1 for normally erasing files.
Deleting selected files:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/41

Method 1: deleting files on the player itself .

Method 2: deleting files when connected to a computer
when using method 2, switching USB mode from MTP to MSC or vice versa may be needed to see the files in the folders.
Information about the problem "hidden files", see:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/447
How to change the USB mode of the player, see:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/207

Option 2, erasing all files on purpose or when memory is corrupted .
Formatting the device, deleting all files:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/107

This help page shows how to perform a format of the player using
disk management. The player has to be in MSC mode when performing
this action.
How to switch to MSC mode is mentioned before, see link:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/207

How do i delete music off my sansa mp3 player?

Source: http://www.ehow.com/how_2023687_delete-files-sansa.html

Step 1Connect the USB cable to your Sansa MP3 player, then hook the other end to a free USB port on your computer. Step 2Give the computer time to recognize the Sansa MP3 player. Once it has, double-click on the MP3 player’s icon to view the music files stored to memory. Step 3Scroll through the list of audio files until you find the ones that you wish to delete from the Sansa MP3 player. Step 4Click on single items or click and lasso multiple files. Step 5Right-click on the highlighted files to pull down an action list and from there select Delete. The computer will ask if you really want to throw the file away. Select OK. Step 6Exit from the window, then disconnect the USB cable from the Sansa MP3 player. The player will automatically turn off. The memory will update the first time you turn the player on after deleting songs. Tips & Warnings
  • Optionally, you can left-click on a file and drag the file icon to the Recycle Bin. Either way, you can delete music that you don’t want from your Sansa MP3 player.
  • Unlike other documents and files, once the music file hits the Recycle Bin, it’s gone. Make sure that you are deleting the correct file.

Deleting music off of my sansa E250r!!HLP ME

If you originally used rhapsody (or began in Rhapsody mode) , you have to use rhapsody to remove the songs. If that doesn't work, you can manually open the music folder by enabling "hidden folders" under "tools" -> "folder options..." -> click the "view" tab -> scroll and check "show hidden files and folders". Then go to My Computer -> Sansa e250 -> "system" -> "music" -> then delete the songs. I don't know the effects of using this method, so use it at your own risk.

Btw, Real Player should do fine as well.
