It should be in the video settings page. Press setup on the remote.
There will be other options that could be currently set as one of these - AUTO, NTSC, PAL

No color on my hdtv

No color normally means that your video output region settings are incorrect. If you're living in America it should be set to NTSC, in Europe it's PAL.

Having the same problem but your solution does not work.

did you verify if your tv is set to work with PAL or NTSC?
if your PS System is European, you must set your tv on PAL
if it's American, you must set your tv on NTSC

and it will not work if you try to plug the cables in component video as you did.

Black and white screen

I had the same problem. I fixed it by changing system settings, there is somewhere on the console where you can choose between two differant colour options. have a look around and try changing it on the ps itself.

New Nintendo Wii

check you've got it on the right PAL/NTSC setting. It's very likely the 50/60hz setting. 480i running at 60hz is NTSC resolution although the PAL Wii of course uses the PAL signal. The TV probably tries to interpret the signal as a real NTSC signal because it's 480i 60hz and thus can't handle the colors. There has got to be an option to switch between NTSC and PAL.
Are you using the same SCART socket that you use for your other consoles or a different one? My SCART3 input on my Panasonic telly has two different modes - one which displays in colour, and one which displays in a sort of grainy black n' white. There is a purpose to it but I can't remember what it is. :-)

Anyway, you switch between the two by pushing the AV button and then hitting the colour button which corresponds to SCART3 a few times 'til you reach the correct setting.

It probably isn't that, but... y'know. Sanity check.

No color

Chances are it has been swapped into Pal mode, or NTSC mode in the settings page.
It should be Pal if you are in most places on the planet, or NTSC for the USA etc.
You have no location in your profile so it makes it a little hard to tell.

Screen losing color.. turning black and white

Your TV goes black & white, because your Wii could be NTSC or PAL which. If your Wii is PAL and your TV is NTSC then the TV will show a blac and white color. Since NTSC is for North America and PAL for Asia
