I'm trying to set up our register and when I test a department key. it keeps giving me error 037. Even when I set the limit really high it won't let me ring up a simple amount like 10.00

You have screwed up when you tried to change prices. You have set a price to the cash button by mistake. Price the cash button at zero and you will remove the HALO limit.
For error code E037- turn key to program- push 0 then cash amount tend button then subtotal button. Let it work. When receipt is finished printing... Will be long...push 0/cash amount tend button then sub total. Turn key back to register mode and you will be back in business.
Someone has programmed an entry digit limit on that department. Look through the programming for departments and set the entry digit limit back to default for that department. I don't keep the department codes on hand as I never set limits. It should be in your manual. If you need one, C-tech collective have it here:http://the-checkout-tech.com/manuals/cashregisters/Sharp_XE-A20S_operating_programming_manual.html
Hi Cathy, You sure have been programming the Departments. You have turned on a link feature to a condiment PLU, so go back, and turn that off for the departments that you have it set to on. The digit limit has also been set too low, so now the machine has been told to accept low amounts only in those departments, so you will need to go into those departments, and set the Digit limit (sometimes called HALO) to a higher value. If you don't know what you did to cause this problem, just do a program read of the departments, and have a look at the ones that work, then set the others to the same values.
If you still have problems, then type out the values of a good dept, and a bad dept, and I'll tell you the difference.
