I have the same problem with a computer I'm trying to troubleshoot for a co-worker. There was a great deal of virus /malware on it, so I did a clean install of Windows, and now I can't get it to boot reliably.

The second issue is that after starting and stopping the computer 4 or 5 times, it will refuse to boot at all. The fans and HD come on, but no video, and no splash screen. If I unplug it for 15 min or so, then I can start it again.

I'll try different memory, and see if that helps.

This could be a number of things.

  1. A bad driver is being loaded when Windows starts. Most drivers are not loaded in safe mode so the problem won't happen there. If you have recently added any new hardware, then locate it in device manager and uninstall it.
  2. Bad memory can cause this. Windows running normally uses memore memory then it does in safe mode. If it hits a patch of bad memory while it is loading, then it can collapse instantly.
There are of course hundreds of things that can go wrong at any time..even brand new components can fail or cause issues.
Start with the 2 options above and see how you go.

Hope it helps =)

MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine)

Hello it`s right the mainboard is a msi, but the support belongs to HP/COMPAQ.
The mainboard was made by msi, for HP as a OEM product.
There is no driver to be found at the msi site, you have to visit HP here:

http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

And enter the pc`s model number, or sku number from the back of the pc.
Entering the mainboard number does not help.

You probably have to select your windows system, if you need the drivers.

Here is some info about the mainboard:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&tmp_geoLoc=true&docname=c03343058

Hope this will help you

Hello here is the homepage:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K8N-Neo4-Platinum--PCB-1-0-.html#/?div=Driver&os=All

Here is no sound drivers for windows 7.

If i am wrong by the mainboard model, enter the ms xxxx number here:

http://www.msi.com/service/download/

The ms number is located on the mainboard.

The solution is to buy a sound card, to add on the mainboard.
You just have to make sure, the driver is available for your windows system.
A sound card, can be bought online, or in a computershop.

As i know, MSI is not planning to make drivers, for this mainboard for windows 7.

Good luck

MSI P965 Pt Continually re-boots on start-up

You don't say exactly at what point in the boot sequence the system crashed and restarts. Many things could be at work here. You say you are using the HDD from the previous system. Did you swap this drive straight out and are still using the OS load from the previous system? Windows loads drivers at startup based upon the hardware installed. If you are using and old WIndows load with a new mainboard, this could be the entire cause of your crashes. YOu may be able to get to SAGE mode and remove the old drivers and try to restart the system, but from experience I will tell you that to get the best results when installing a new mainboard, you should reload the OS from the original OS disk, and then load the new mainboard drivers.
