T1100 emachine - restarts at windows logon screen

My T1100 emachine powers up ok but when it gets to the windows logon screen it restarts the computer(not enough time to type password). It keeps repeating this process until I press the on/off button to power down the computer. I have opened the case and blew out all dust. I removed the power supply then reinstalled it, reseating all connections. The fans work just fine. I'm not sure what to do next?

Thanks for responding so quickly to my pc problem. I did as you suggested but the system still restarts at the windows logon screen. I was able to get to safe mode but after doing a couple of system restores, it did not fix the problem. Have you got any other ideas?

My apology for rating you prematurely, as this is my first time on this website. At any rate, I have the Restore CD ver1.1 eMachines T1100. This CD will copy the necessary files from software that was preinstalled from the factory. I will use the CD tomorrow, as tonight there is a tornado warning in our area of the state of Ohio. I'll let you know how that goes!

Thank you for the help, as we are back online again. It's too bad I lost everything on the hard drive but at least the machine is usable again. I rated you a 4star FixYa! Again, thanks for your help.

PS - I have another, newer, eMachine that I'm working on. Can you help me with that one too?

I have the same problem. I ran antivirus and found that some of the files were infected by Trojan horse virus and AVJ antivirus s/w cleaned it. But inspite of it, I am getting the same problem repeatedly.

I don't want to lose data in my hard disk. Is there any other option to get back online?

Have you made any hardware/software changes lately? If answer is no, reboot the pc and hit F8 a couple times. This will give you a list of options. Use your arrows and highlight last known good configuration and hit enter. See if your pc boots ok. If you don't have that option or it doesn't boot ok, Repeat the process to get the list. Use the arrow keys to higlight Safe Mode and hit enter. Your pc should boot to safe mode. Click on Start>progams>accessories>system tools>system restore. Choose a safe date about 3 days ago and do a restore. Wait until it's done completely! and see if it's working ok. If this fixed your problem please rate as fixed. If you need more help with this just add a comment and I'll be glad to help out. Thanks.

Please don't rate us until we're out of options. Most of us just tell you a few things to try but we're not giving up on you. It's ok- you can always change it. Any chance you've got your Windows cd?

Been to Ohio many many times. Keep your head down. I'm surprised someone actualy has one of their cds. That was one of my next two things to try. Most people don't have their restore or Win cd but alot of dealers and retailers don't give you the Win cd. Makes things tough on us. Well, let me know what happens and I hope I hear from you!

Sure can. Just post the request for me under your experts. If that other machine has the same operating system we could have maybe saved your data and got you running even without Win cd but.... let me know what's up with that one and I'll be glad to help. Happy to hear you didn't get hit by a twister! Will wait for your new post.

I replaced the Power Supply on an emachine T1100 and labeled the connections for P1, P4 and P6 so I could put them back. The fan came on, but the computer didn't start up. I can't find a place for the...

Forgive me if my first (educated) guess may be off, but the 4-pin connector for which your can't find a connection may go to your
system disk hard drive - all Emachine towers have a HDD (hard disk drive) bootable system disk - and it needs power to allow your T1100 to boot.
The system disk (your only bootable hard drive) is hidden (a little) in a metal enclosure in the front of the tower. The T1100 has a 20GB HDD, and in the "My Computer" display, it appear as "Drive C:", and is powered by a standard 4-pin power connector.

How do I upgrade memory on a t1100 emachine from 256mb

Your emachines eMachines T1100 only supports modules made with a specific type of chip. Should you find what seems to be the exact same memory elsewhere for a lower price, it is very possible that the cheaper memory will not work in your computer. From what I see you should use straight PC-133 Try a site like make sure it works with your computer as would kingston or corsair...
Your maximum amount of ram is only 256mb total.
hope this helps...good luck- please leave a rating...thank you kindly

Emachine T1100 Emachine window then no system window

It sounds like the hard drive has been wiped or is dead or not connected. Check the power and control cables to the hard drive. Check drive with a maintenance diskette or CD. Replace drive if bad. If wiped or replaced, you need to re-install an operating system, such as MS Windows-XP, or Ubuntu (a free, downloadable, Debian GNU/Linux based operating system with a Windows-like user interface).
