Re: WS-65809-Picture caves in at times
If it caves in INTERMITTENTLY and you have a 3d effect you may have problem with convergence. you would need to resolder or replace convergence ics. STK392-570.
you would need to have some king od skill soldering and unsoldering parts.let me know if you need more info.

Sounds like the convergence circuit is starting to fail...there are kits available for this set from tvrepairkits.com . The kit isn't all that expensive but the labor to have someone put it in may be expensive.
this is convergence failure, but on this model, its usually solder connections before the chips totally fail. here is my tutorial, let me know if you need help diving in and re-soldering http://www.fixya.com/support/r5001731-convergence_diagnosing_convergence Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Do you have the tools required to solder electronics? Do you know how to solder electronics? Have you been trained in CRT safty ? Do you know about High Voltage safty? Is the tv Model number WS-65809? Do you know how to perform static geometry adjustement on a WS65809 if needed? Do you know how to perform static convergence alignment on a WS-65809? Do you know how to perform fine convergence adjustement to a WS-65809?
The answer is :yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
You can retreive an error code of 23 or 24 right after the tv shuts
itself off .
There is a 95% chance that I could tell you what to solder , no parts need to be replaced in your television and you would not have to pay someone to repair it.
I wouldnt reccommend that you try to fix it as it is a lot easier to make it worse that better. Basically your color guns have gotten un focused and will need to be adjusted. Call a tv tech and they can usually fix it for a decent price.
Good Day, GLENN;
I assume that IHVT was arcing from the side, and the audio is from the TV and not stereo? Or was it the high voltage splitter? Was it plug in or soldered IN? It sounds like you may have bridged a solder joint, unplugged something by accident or something else? Double check your work first of all. Do you still get high voltage? You may poor part. Good Luck, big IRISH.
This unit quite often develops bad solder connections on the pins of the convergence ic's. Carefully removing the chasis from the unit (marking the connectors you loosen to do so) and then resolder all pins of the large stk ic's mounted on the large heat sinks will fix this problem most times. Please note that continued use with this problem will cause those ic's to fail and then will need to be replaced.
