Roady xt and car kit under warranty but part is obsolete
My roady xt works in the car but not the way it is supposed to. I have it put to the cat kit dock and it frequently says antenna. and goes in and out. I need to squeeze it to the dock to get it to work properly sometimes. It will work sporadically with the cassette adopter but not with the fm modulator. the frequency is set to 90.5 where it has worked quite well up until recently. I can not change the frequency because that option will not come up on the menu for me to do that. I recently took the unit to a best buy store and the service rep and I had the consensus that the dock had become defective needed to be replaced and that returning it would not be a problem since the unit was still under warranty however that part was no longer sold and due to technological advances (8 months since purchase?) the part is no longer sold and is probably obsolete. I called the xm people and was told that they could send me a new radio, but would have to pay for a new car dock ( at half price tough) can I to get a replacement for the original part from the manufacturer with the warranty (delphi ). better yet can I wire it directly into the radio itself.
Re: roady xt and car kit under warranty but part is...
Wow, sounds like a tough break, Personally I would take the XM offer, or perhaps look at Ebay for a new dock. YOu can go throught the warranty process with delphi they usually are simple enough to deal with, but that will be a long process. Wiring it into the radio is still going to require a working dock, and most stock car radios dont have an input. Some will say AUX input or XM ready on them. Now if your car has a tape deck you might try one of those handy tape adaptors that plugs from your dock to your tape deck. You can pick those up at your local electronics store for 10-20 dollars, and they work pretty well. Hope that helps Let me know there is anything else I can do

Your antenna needs to be facing southwest. Try to find a window in your classroom that faces that way. Another way around this if you don't have a southwest facing window is to get the XM repeater that will allow you to have the antenna in one room, and your receiver in another. I have two (one at home, and one in my store, and they work great).
one of 3 things, either your antenna is not insight of a skies view to receive the signal, or its wire is broken at the antenna, but if you remove the antenna connection frequently it pulls the center wire out of the connection on the end that fits into the radio when its plugged in push on the conductor at the back of the plug and see if this helps, alos if connection is loose take a safety pin and carefully between the outer plug case ans the ground fingers around the center pin push these in so you get a better ground, and lastly try another substitute antenna, I have re-soldered my connections numerous times to fix this issue, delphi doesn't make a very rugged product, good luck
if you plug and unplug your antenna connection to the receiver a lot it loses the ground(shielded) line connection, if your lucky you can take a safety pin and CAREFULLY bend the radios 4 outer shell antenna contacts inward to make contact with the antenna connector, if its the plug on the antenna, try pushing wire in toward plug connection to the radio...delphi never had much for life on any external products that fit their XM radios but when you need repl parts boy are they waiting for you, and they got them
We've been having the same problem with our Roady XT unit at the office. Sometimes I think it's possessed because it goes in and out, changes to the mute mode, and sometimes turns itself off. Just got another Roady XT unit today. It played fine, then went into the mute mode. Called XM and they told me to reset unit to factory default. It's fine at the moment.
My XM Boombox is also white and it is a Belkin. The folks at Delphi told me the receiver in the boombox is screwed up which over time also screws up the Delphi receiver. Belkin is sending me a new boombox and Delphi is sending me a new Roady XT.
The pins get easily damaged when switching from the car dock to the Belkin boom box. I have to constintly squeeze very ******* the top of the xt in order for it to make contact. Belkin will send you a plastic alignment fixture but it is too late. It still does the same thing.
