I took apart my Dremel 395 Type 3 and the spring popped out for the shaft lock. Where does the spring attach to?

It doesn't attach anywhere, that's why it popped out. It should just fit in a recess, pushing the lock button outward.

How to replace the spline and coupling

The coupler nut tends to be screwwed on so tight that even when undone, the collet has bit into the soft shaft of the tool. Holding the rotation lock button in, grab the shank with some strong needle nose pliers and twist the shaft loose or pull it off completely with the nut and then seperate the nut from the shank when it is out of the Dremel Tool. A lot of machine tools are tightened too much, which makes the shanks get all damaged so use only the required tension on that collet nut.

I cant loosen the bit on my dremel variable 395. The hole that the 'stop rotary pin' enters which stops the shaft from spinning is stripped out. The pin will not stay in place when I attempt to unscrew the...

Clamp the bit in a vise or with vise-grips (you will probably ruin it) to hold it while you loosen the collet. You can disassemble the tool and get the lock assembly P/N 2615297356 from for less than $2.00. Search for the part number on line for a source.

How do you attach "multipurpose cutting kit model 565" to the dremel multipro model 395?

Remove the collet nut and collet then unscrew the sealing cap (black plastic ring), this has the same thread as the inner of the multi kit tool, so just screw on the tool then replace the collet and nut

Craftsman rotary tool doesn't lock down on the bits.

the collet is either the wrong size for the shaft on the attachment or is missing alltogether

Dremel shaft lock spinning

Trying to fix a similar issue. The pin that gets pushed in by the button (and returned by the spring) seems to be fine. The hole in the rotating shaft that the pin fits into, however, is in the wrong place, so the pin never goes into the hole! All I need to do is somehow pull the whole front part of the shaft out about 1/16th of an inch, and it'd be fine. I just can't seem to budge it though. Any tricks, anyone?

I can't get the head to open to take out the bit

Unplug it, then while pushing in the little silver button near the head use a wrench on the hex nut and turn counter clockwise about a 1/2 turn. Push the bit in, then pull it out (that releases the little fingers that hold it).

The silver button locks the head so it won't spin while you are changing bits. Always be sure it is released before plugging in or turning on the power.
