It means it means microsoft windows explorer is not running

  1. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.
  2. Look for explorer.exe in the "Image Name" column.
  3. Right click on it and select "End Process".
  4. Click File from the menu.
  5. Click New Task (Run...).

if you want to restart an instance of
Windows Explorer, you should use the official way to shut down
Explorer, rather than killing it from Task Manager! To shut down
officially, hit Start->Shutdown (or Turn Off Computer on Windows
XP), then while holding the control shift and alt keys, click cancel on
the shutdown dialog. To start a new instance of Windows Explorer, bring
up Task Manager by holding the control and shift keys, then hit escape.
In Task Manager, choose File->New Task and enter "Explorer.exe".
This will have restarted Windows Explorer properly.

Computer display , with 3 triplicate icons??,

Right click on Taskbar > Toolbars, and manage. Remove check from undesired bar. Only the triplicates may be a concern. Make sure to run a full virus scan, but also may be a slip of the mouse by creating shortcuts while highlighting.

My computer told me to check my firewall. How can I bring it in?

HI. It all depends on what type of firewall you have activated. There is a Windows native firewall that is standard issued with your OS. There is also what I call a stand alone independent firewall that will be an integrated part of your aftermarket virus program. That firewall can be pulled up by double clicking on your virus software icon on the bottom right hand corner of the task-bar. Once you have pulled up that window; Navigate through the options to gain access to the fire wall settings to check the status.

Now; to access the windows native firewall, start by clicking on the control panel link in your start menu. Once the control panel has opend, Double right click on the Windows Firewall icon in the list. Once the icon is clicked; you will see the Windows Firewall window pop up. You can check the status of the native firewall there, among other options, as well.

I can't find the icon to have a web cam conversation...it is usually at the bottom right corner of the screen...it is a little man...what do I do?...it dissappeared ...how?...i don't know!

It sounds like you are using chating program such as MSN or AOL. If you can't see it in the bottom right corner, you can check whether there is a arrow on the edge of that bottom right corner, you can click on the arrow to show more icons there. Sometimes the system is set to hide the idle icons in the bottom right corner. You can undo that by right clicking there and choose properties from the pop-up menu and then select the Notification Area tab or something like the System Tray tab depending on the Operating System installed. Then you will see the option to Hide Idle Icons. You can uncheck it to see all the icons.
If the icon is still not there, start it from the Start menu. It should be under Program and Microsoft Live Messenger or AOL Messenger or something like those. If your computer freeze when doing that, you might need to restart, or choose ALT-DEL-CONTROL and select Start Task Manager and kill the process about MSN or AOL. Don't hesitate to turn to me if any questions. Thanks.

After login desktop doesn't appear im using

Hello,

It seems you have a virus, where you only see the mouse pointer and no desktop icons nor start bar ?
Please update anti-virus database then run virus scan.

If you are sure you do NOT have a virus, try to do a system restore to a point when you know the laptop was working with desktop available.

For Windows Vista/7, press on start then type in SYSTEM RESTORE, double-click on the icon that comes up, choose "Restore previous point".

My computer started up normally, then nothing.

Hi,

It sounds like you have a virus riddled computer as well as no Anti virus protection either.

Try and get your desktop back this way >>>>>

Start task manager, in the top right hand corner of the window you will see File, click on that. Where it say's new task (Run), click on that and type in the box explorer and then hit the enter key.

Hopefully your desktop icons and task bar will return.

If they do return you will need to obtain some anti virus software.

You can get AVG 9 Free here >>>>>>>>

http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?part=dl-10044820&subj=dl&tag=button&cdlPid=11014801

Download and install this excellent free software and then perform a deep scan of the system for any and all viruses, malware and spyware.

If you can't get the desktop icons to return post back here straight away and tell me what operating system you are using, like XP, Win 2000/98 for example.

Good luck.

I HAVE A WINDOW XP HOME EDITION AND WHEN I START MY COMPUTER THE ONLY THING THAT COMES UP IS THE BACKGROUND. THERE ARE NO ICONS OR A BAR AT BOTTOM OF SCREEN.

the icons and the bar(task bar) at the bottom of the screen are enabled by the explorer.exe file

it starts automatically but in your case it is not starting

to start it when your computer starts and comes at the desktop, press alt+ctrl+delete button at the same time to bring up the task manager

when you do this a task manager shows up in a window

in task manager window click on file, it will be located on the top left portion on task manager

now click on "new task(run)"

this opens another window, in that window type
"explorer"
without the quotes "" and press enter
this will bring you icons and task bar at the bottom of the screen
