Question about LG RC797T

1 Answer

How can I reset the Code Options Listed on Service Technicians Menu?

I sucessfully entered 1397139 on my remote and got to the 'secret 'Option menu. I changed Option 5 to ff(making it region-free) however I must have accidentally changed a few other Options by mistake because now it won't accept any blank media such as DVD+r or DVD+r/w. It says "unknown disc" and ejects them, I can't even initialize them. What I need to know is what the original factory set codes were for Option 1 thru 8, so I can reset the ones I made an error on. Any LG Techs out there?? Dave

When I turn on my recorder and tv and then go to component on my tv all I get is a blank screen. I would like to know how to reset the recorder back to factory settings

To use the Setup menu:
1. Press the SETUP button to bring up the menu.
2. Once the menu appears, use the up and down buttons to navigate the sub-menus listed at the side of the menu.
3. Press > to enter a sub-menu. (Press < repeatedly to leave a sub-menu.)
4. Use and to select an item.
5. Press ENTER to bring up a list of the available options for the selected item.
6. Use up and down to select the desired option and then press ENTER to select it.
7. Press the SETUP button to exit the menu.
The following is a description of the contents of the Setup menu and their use.

The remote just says set 2 and does nothing

Does the TV screen say Set 2 or the display area on the DVD recorder? The original remote for the DMR-ES35VS doesn't have a screen. (If you are using a universal remote, I'm not sure how to reset the unit.)

The Set 2 indicates that the unit was set to listen to a remote on the second wavelength available on these remotes. Your remote needs to be set to the same wavelength. Press and hold Enter and then press and hold 2 (for about 2 seconds) on the remote to set it to this option. Press Return to move back through the menu or exit the screen. (Panasonic provided this feature for those with several devices so that each remote wouldn't control a nearby device at that frequency.) To get the recorder to respond to the remote, they must be set to the same range. To check, press the Functions button. Under Other Functions > Setup > Remote Control Code, you can adjust the wavelength that the receiver is looking for. (Use the up/down arrows to select a sub-menu and the Enter key to enter the sub-menu. Use the left/right arrows to select options in the secondary menu.) If the unit doesn't respond, try a different wavelength. (Press and hold Enter and then press 1 or 3. There are only three possible options for the remote/receiver.)

For a screen capture of this, see page 19 of the manual; it is available from Panasonic here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRES35V.pdf . An original remote is available from Remotes.com: http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=DMR-ES35VS&uuid=13262363222670 . It probably comes pre-programmed for Remote Code 1.

I hope this helps.

Click TV Aspect
highlight the 16x9 wide aspect ratio
enter on remote control this coded sequence:
1397139

Option 4: ff (enables Vcd and SVCD playback)
Option 5: ff (enables region free playback (region 0) DVD playback)
Option 6: ce (enables Insignia brand startup logo on boot)
Option 6: c0 (enables LG brand startup logo on boot)

Unlock code for dvdplayer LG RC 195

Hello,
You may want to copy and paste this into notepad or another writer program, save it and print it so you have it in hand and have read and understand the sequences as they are rather involved for your player.

This is from VideoHelp.com

Turn on TV and player, press home key on player remote; in setup, scroll down to the padlock icon (when you get to the "padlock" option on your remote, leave it there, don't go to the menu to the right which has three options--rating, password, area code. Leave it on "lock", press 0000000 and you will be region free.

That's seven zeros.

If the above sequence doesn't work try this other process below.

While having one too many beers my friend managed to use the remote to get to the 'secret' Service Technician Menu for my LG RC797T DVD recorder to make it Region free. This he did mange to do, however his...

In 480p resolution, you highlight the 16.9 aspect ratio from the TV Aspect menu option in Setup and then type 1397139 on the remote. This brings up the service screen with all options and machine information.
Optimal (best) settings are as follows.
1 : f 2 2 : 35 (this is DivX)
3 : 93 (macrovision?) 4 : f f (Vcd/Svcd)
5 : f f (region free) 6 : c0 (c0 = LG logo)(ce = Insignia)
7 : 04 8 : 15
All I can say is Keep these and and dont mess around or you can kill it....

Wrong region

i used this same procedure^on a different model. The number is entered via remote control pointing to the unit. after entering the right code, there should be a secret menu that will appear when you press setup , mine appeared as preference. On this menu, you can find the region. You can fiddle around, you cannot destroy the unit. The info is here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/amw-v99/3349 maybe you can read what the other people have done.
