Although familiar with various fax machines, this one i have only dealt with a handful of times, but for manuals, if you go to the website of the manufacturer/ vendor that your product is from, they should and more than likely will have all of the relevant manuals for this device.
With the brother series, usually there will be a series of buttons, either a fax, scan, photocopy, or print button. If you hit the fax button then confirm in the menu, you will be then prompted to enter a phone/ fax number, once you have done this, you then select the YES/ send option, or the green button and off your fax goes, it should spit out a lovely piece of paper that has a copy of the fax you have just sent, and also a delivery report, if your make and model has this feature enabled on it.
As I said thugh, the best place to get your manual from is either the manufacturer/ vendors website, or even by typing in google, manual/ user manual followed by your make and model of device. NOTE: Manuals on web are transported usually using PDF file formats, so make sure you have a copy of adobe acrobat or adobe reader, or else you wont be able to read the thing. You can get this by typing adobe reader in google and finding the free download version. even a trial version will do, because once youve printed the manual, you can swan adobe off by uninstalling it, until the next time you need it.........just as long as you keep the downloaded program file somewhere in your sysem where you know you can get at it.
