I can't seem to find a definitive yes or no answer .... Can i install windows- either 2000 or XP onto this machine? If so, how will it run? (as i have heard since it has 2g of ram, it may pose a problem)
-   I have a problem, I put my windows CD in and boot up, but it skips over the disk drive and just loads gOS, what am I doing wrong?

hi there,
this is simple "yes"...i don't see why not...i would load Windows 2000 Pro or even XP Pro on there .. it will run nicely .. just look at the Specifications:-
Hard Drive Size: 80 GB System RAM: 512 MB Operating System: gOS Processor Type: VIA C7-D 1.5 GHz Graphics Controller Integrated Graphics Processor / Vendor: VIA UniChrome Pro Optical Storage CD-RW / DVD-ROM combo Expansion Slots Total (Free): 1 ( 0 ) x processor ¦ 2 ( 1 ) x memory - DIMM 240-pin Networking: Network adapter - integrated Modem: Fax / modem
actually, the MT3418 came with Vista Home Premium. The problem you're going to have is looking around and finding all the drivers to make the insides all work correctly. According to Gateway there's no way to do that in such a way that everything will work. Personally I think they're full of it. I just installed gOS and my only deal now is getting the wireless drivers to work. Everything else seems happy so far.
