Zen Vision M won't charge

I upgraded the firmware, but the device still won't charge. Blue light is on but not blinking. Power supply shows it's plugged in, but no lightning bolt. Any new ideas?? What am I missing?

I had this problem with a different Vision M and the upgrade fixed the problem. But not this time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

This could be a hardware issue, but try this:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Hi, my ZEN vision m: does not start anymore; when charging the blue light just "flickers", but even after 1 night charging, no possibility to get to the menu

Hi,
The rapid-blinking blue light means that the Zen's battery is too drained to allow the player to turn on.

It can take 24 hours or more to completely recharge the Zen using USB. If you see the blue light blinking slowly when you plug it in, then the player is charging, and you will have to wait for it to finish charging.

If, after leaving the Zen to charge for more than a day, it still does not turn on, then the battery may be defective and not able to be charged anymore. The battery will have to be replaced.

Mp3 player will not turn on, it is fully charged

First try resetting it = To reset your zen = Put a pen head in the hole under the power button for 20 seconds.

A depleted battery may have any of the following symptoms:
The charging icon is missing
The blue power LED is not blinking
The player turns off immediately when it is disconnected from its power supply
Not showing any signs of activity (with the exception of the blue power LED)
No LCD display
The player is not detected by Windows or any programs
If the player shows the above symptoms, download the firmware below and follow the step by step instructions to install the firmware update.

May have to format if nothing eles works.

ZVM won't charge

Usually this problem is due to the firmware. If you upgrade the firmware to version 1.62.02, this problem usually will disappear. The older firmwares have problems in recognizing the battery and allowing the battery to power the unit.

Here is what you'll need to do to save your Zen: you will need a charger for the operation. I recommend buying a brand new charger from the Creative Labs website or a used one here, instead of getting an aftermarket one off Ebay. Aftermarket ones tend to cause problems or fail to work altogether.

Plug in the wall charger and USB cable at the same time. Your Zen should power on when connected the charger. Once it is powered on, connect the USB cable to your computer.

If your Zen does not power on when connected to the charger, your unit is dead and its time to replace it or get the motherboard replaced via one of the Repair services offered on this website.
Download the firmware to your PC, then reboot your PC and connect the Zen via USB cable. Open the firmware icon to begin the download.

If the upgrade button on the firmware window is not available, it is also time to replace your motherboard due to corruption of a chip on the board.

CREATIVE ZEN GONE HAYWIRE

sounds like it might be either a bad firmware driver, which can be erased and reinstalled via the USB connection to your computer and a download from creative. Or the battery has gone bad, in which case you have to have it sent to creative for Repair.

This means both systems contain a bug, or cookie. If the firmware you accessed isn't applying itself to the device, this means the system itself has been corrupted. Double check with your system configuration properties on each device, and tell me whats going on from there.

Don't panic!

Creative Zen M won't turn back on

There is a major bug in Firmware version 1.40.xx related to battery charging, and it will exhibit this behavior if there is not enough battery power available for your device to power up. You will need to upgrade your firmware to fix this.

There is a catch, however - your player will not power up on USB power alone, which poses a problem for firmware updating. You must obtain a DC wall charger, plug it into the player via the dongle. This will allow the device to turn on. Then you must plug into your computer's USB port. Do not worry - having both a wall charger and USB cable plugged in at the same time will not harm your player or your computer. This will allow your ZVM to remain powered up so you can update the firmwar

Creative Vision: M Won't Power Up

I had a similar problem with my Zen Vision: M. I had let it sit for awhile and the battery lost all power. It wouldn't charge or connect to the computer. After fighting with customer support for a long time they agreed to have it shipped in for service. I also was not able to find my receipt to send them. But I bought it at Circuit City and they are able to pull up any receipt for any purchase made with them. I suppose you could always try to try that with the retailer you purchased the device from. Before you go to all that trouble though try these steps: 1. Connect the device to the wall charger. 2. Hold the power switch to ON. 3. Put a paper clip into the reset hole. 4. Continue holding the power switch on until the Creative logo appears. 5. Select Format All from the Recovery Mode menu. (Note: THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA FROM YOUR DEVICE! - but it's better than buying a new device) 6. When the reformatting is done, select Reboot from the Recovery Mode menu. Let me know what the results are from this.
