I was just upgrading the Nokia software on my E65, connected with USB, charged and connected to charger for backup... and the phone just went dead. I've tried everything to get it going again including taking the batery out and outting it back in aain, holding the on/off button down for a minute - and nothing is happening. The screen is dead. Is Nokia's new upgrade causing this? I see two other posts to this site with the same problem in the past 24 hours. The upgrade was posted on Nokia.com 24 hours ago.

Try flashing your phone. Install NOKIA PC SUITE and NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER (google them and select them from the Nokia websites) on your computer. Then connect your phone via the USB cable. Once the Nokia PC Suite finds and instal your phone, then run the Updater. It should allow you to install a higher version or the same version of your software. If you like to keep your data, you can use the nokia PC Suite to back up your entire phone before running the Software Updater. Afterwards use the same to Restore your Data. Make sure your phone is fully charged before doing this.
Download the software from Nokia.com and also download nokia PC SUITE then connect the phone to PC using data cable. Make sure your mobile battery is connected to a charger because any interruption during software upgrade, will loose the entire mobile software and will never switch on again.

Solved my own problem with a simple solution - I brought it back to the shop I bought it in 6 months ago. The manager recognised the situation and immediately replaced it with a new E65 - said it happens now and then.
The basic info is probably still there but you need to do a major reset. Its a dealer case.
When upgrading software on Mobs, be sure to:
HAVE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY INSERTED;
PUT IT ON GENERAL PROFILE;
TURN OFF YOUR PIN NUMBER;
CONNECT YOUR CHARGER TO YOUR MOB AND SWITCH IT ON;
DO NOT-----DO NOT---- TOUCH YOUR PHONE WHILE THE UPGRADE IS GOING ON;
THIS CAN TAKE 30 MINUTES OR MORE.
And obviously don't unplug the phone from the PC.
Be patient, you may have to do a restart or two on your mob afterwards. Even remove the battery to get it going again. But give it plenty of time.
I did an upgrade on a Sony Eric 810i it took nearly two hours.
install the cd that came with the phone, once that is done and you have connect you phone via usb cable to the pc, switch on the phone then when the pc has located and recognised your phone go to the update column and the pc will search nokia site for a new upgrade.
