The colors on my tv are off by about 3 inches on the left and only about 1/2 inch on the right. I have tried to configure the colors in the menu but it doesn't seem to help. what is wrong. What parts do i need to fix this?
The colors on my mitsubishi 50in model number vs-5041 are foggy and halo-ed....the blues look gray and the reds and green are too bright and seem to bleed into the other colors. What is wrong with my tv and how do i fix it?

No,any colors lines mis alignments.The tv convergence board parts are dead.The 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead.These parts must be replace on the tv convergence board.To solveved convergence problems.The shop,will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
hello it sound like the convergance ic may be the problem these chips sit behind the tuner board connected to a metal frame called a heat sink they are soldered in. also you will have to check the resistor in front of the chips also check the 2 capacitors at either end it would be best to get a quote from and engineer good luck
Bad fuse FL231 it does not look like a fuse But it is ! it will be on your deflection board first bottom board to the left on right side of FBT flyback transfomer thier is 3 in a roll small brown rectrangler looking caps but they are fuses it will be the one in the middle call Mats Electronics 1-800-628-1118 for fuse.
1.) If it will not adjust and it is a PT-53wx42 made by Panasonic you need to replace both of the STK-392-110 Convergence chips and any of the protect resistors around them that are damaged.
2.) The reason this kind of problem happens is the two chips are about 2 1/2 inches wide X 1 1/2 inches tall(Black in color) and the back of each chip is metal---they are mounted side by side on metal heat sinks with fins(They will have the STK-392-110 printed on them in white letters)---when they are installed a white grease is applied to the back of each chip to transfer heat quickly and keep them cool---after several years the heat sink grease dries out and the chips overheat and fail.
3.) I have done hundreds of these sets and if you have the skill you can do the repair yourself--you can buy both chips on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping. I also have step by step start to finish instructions for doing this repair on this set---
4.) If you are not able to do this repair shop around in your area as most TV shops try to charge 300-400 for this kind of repair--I do them here for 200-250 in the customer's home.
5.) If a shop says it has to go to the shop--keep looking as any good tech can do this repair right in your home in about 1 hour.
6.) Once the chips are replaced and the set adjusted it should not have this problem again for 5 - 8 years--this is about the only problem this kind of set has.

No there are no quick fix options for this fault. The convergence amplifiers operate similar to a high power audio amplifier, so if there is an impairment anywhere in the system, it will result in distorted audio, or in the case of television convergence amplifiers, one or more colors won't align. The convergence power pacs need to be replaced and the out of tolerance precision resistors located near the power pacs need to be carefully checked and replaced as necessary. And the power supply fuse links to the power pacs checked and replaced as needed.
It is also possible that there are root faults that cause the amplifiers to go bad which include bad connections or a bad digital control module. This repair is possible for anyone having basic electronics knowledge and soldering skills. After the above repairs are performed it may be necessary to perform the static convergence realignment procedure using the outer cross hairs as you mentioned, and realigning them.
Probably the color convergence is off. I had a similar problem. Have you tried the magic focus button yet? That is located at left in the small front control panel. Power on TV, wait 20 min (according to user guide), then press the magic focus. If that doesn't fix the problem, you could try the service mode alignment procedure. But that's a little trickier. I don't have a link handy for that procedure right now, but will look for it if magic focus doesn't re-align your color convergence.
If you haven't already bought a nice set of HDMI cables, go ahead and do so (just dont fall for the "gold plated" cables as they are a gimmick). Unfortunately, while we all want that HD quality, there seems to be some problems with the ln46a530 when switching from RCA to HDMI. On the bright side, they have been resolved in this forum post.
