Lights work and when you push cycle and start button just hear a click but the dryer does not start, though it thinks it is running because the lights are working and the timer counts down just like normal. Is this a fuse problem or a switch problem. Just replaced the Thermal fuse, thermostat, thermal cut off and heater element about 2 weeks ago and has worked like new until last night it started doing this?

Where is the fuse on a Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer?

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2008

HE4 dryer wont start. All lights come on. Hear a click but no start up from dryer

  • squirrelly2 Aug 22, 2008

I had the same problem. All the lights come on but when you press the start button all you here is a click. $320 dollars later via a Sears repairman replacing the control board and a fuse. All of this was due to a quarter making its way thru the insulation between the drum and the fixed portion of the dryer and winding up on the control board. I was home when it shorted out - - the lights flickered in the whole house and then came the smell of something burning.

Model He4 dryer. Tried to start the dryer, pressed start and nothing except for a click. All the buttons were lit but did not start. I checked out all the blogs and took a chance on changing the thermal fuse. I ordered the part on Ebay (part number 3392519) for $4 dollars including shipping. When it came in, I took the lower front panel off and replaced the fuse. Dryer works fine.

Its working again!!! The dryer would not start, all the lights worked fine and the timer even worked but when you hit the start button just made a loud click and would not turn on. I replaced the THERMAL FUSE and the dryer is working properly now. Hope this helps.

Roper dryer wont start, do it have a reset button

Check the door switch. With the door open, press the button in and the light should go off. If you don't have a light, listen for a click form the switch as you push and release it. If you don't hear a click, you will need to replace the switch. If the switch is good, then problem will be with the thermal fuse located on the rear of the unit.

Dryer wont run, lights work, timer clicks

what is the model number?there are a couple of things you can check with the little info you sent, check the door switch, push the paddle in and out ,if it doesn't click it's bad, check to see if the belt broke,on some dryers there is a switch down near the pulley,if the belt brakes the dryer won't run,one more thing if your dryer hasn't had a clean out in a long time or if your clothes have been taking a long time to dry check the thermal fuse located on top of the blower wheel housing,if the lint filter is on top the fuse is in the back, take off the vent line, remove the back panel and check the fuse located to the right and down near the bottom of the duct that the lint filter slides into,if the filter is inside then the fuse is in the front the fuse is on top and to the right of the blower wheel housing, also you should clean out the duct that the filter slides into, blow out the vent line, check outside and make sure the flapper is not blocked with anything and vac out the inside of the dryer where the motor is,you need to do this once a year anyway,if you still need help send the model number and let me know what you find, unplug the dryer to clean it and when working on it and remove one of the wires when using your meter

Dryer has power but wont run when i push start button

Problem is either the door switch or the safety thermal, fuse,. Open door and manually push door switch lever to see if you hear a click when depressed. If you do then the problem is the safety fuse located on the blower housing. Small white plastic piece with 2 wires going to it. Hope this helps. Rick

The dryer will not start, you can hear timer.

your problem could be : Door switch, Motor, Thermal Fuse, Timer.

I would start with Door switch and Thermal Fuse.

Whirlpool dryer wont start

Check the door switch actuator (the piece sticking down that the door actuates when closing . Could have broken off . If there , and you hear a click , then thermal fus (white piece with 2 wires attached ) could be problem . Disconnect power and put the 2 wires togather. Reconnect power and see if dryer starts . I have never had to replace a push-to-start switch .

Dryer Won't Start

Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top right of door opening. If it is not there you will need new door switch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and does not click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuse is an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Door switch part number 3406109
Thermal fuse part number 3392519

Fuse

Your belt is broken, the click that you hear is a centrifugal switch that shunts your start button, so we know the motor is running. Check your belt.
