You are right in that the water has nowhere to go initially, the water will be taken by the dishwasher when it wants it, not all of the time (or alot of water would be wasted.)

it sounds like you do not have a good seal is the tap connector if it is leaking like that, check the rubber ring in the connector and ensure that there is not a build up on limescale on the tap (which can make for a leaky seal as the surface is uneaven)

Do you leave the water on from the faucet?

Hi Melva,

You need to turn the water off to connect the dishwasher, but the water from the faucet should be on to run it. See the video below for more information:

I've hooked up my danby to the faucet but the water leaks out the top how do i fix this?

You need to have the RIGHT couplings so that the inlet is secured correctly to maintain the right water pressure to the washer. A visit to the hardware shop, plumbing section could help a lot to get the right choice of coupling to mate the hose from the outlet to the machine. You can use teflon if the thread is too loose and makes a leak.

Whirlpool gold drains all the time, unable to fill

Hello

Ensure the water faucet is turned on and the connection between the water and the dishwasher is secure. The hose connector should be snapped into place between the water faucet and the water hose.

Straighten the water hose and check for possible obstructions in the water hose, the water faucet and the hose connector. Clean as necessary. Turn on the faucet hot water slowly until it is all the way on to ensure proper water flow to the dishwasher.

Open and close the dishwasher door firmly. The dishwasher will not start a wash cycle if the door is ajar. Verify that the dishwasher is plugged in to a working power supply and that a wash cycle has been selected.

Avoid running other appliances that use water, such as a clothes washer, while the dishwasher is running, to avoid improper water pressure. This may result in a lack of water flow to the dishwasher.

Check to make sure large dishes, such as cookie sheets, pots or pans, are not blocking the spray jets. Avoid overloading the dishwasher.

Water not flowing into Danby 18"

Okay, this might seem crazy, but it worked. I spent the last 2 days trying to contact Danby customer service to no avail, so I came back here to look for solutions. Found two:
(1) Someone said to open the little rubber cover under the front right of the machine...I couldn't find such a cover.
(2) Someone said to pull off the front plastic panel...mine doesn't seem to be removeable.
So! I turned my Danby DDW1805 upside-down (!) to see if I could locate the aforementioned rubber cover, and a bunch of water drained out of the machine. This is what both solutions above said I wanted to happen, so I flipped it back right-side up and hooked it back onto my faucet.
Golden. Works perfectly again.

Portable dishwasher won't stay connected to the kitchen faucet

it the faucet connector has a lever u push in order to latch on to the faucet, just jam something under it so it maintains upward pressure and wont come unlatched when the water starts flowing

E3 code

Received from Danby customer support:
"The error code of E3 tells us that the unit is not getting the proper water temperature to continue thru the entire cycle. Before starting the dishwasher and attaching the quick connect assembly to the faucet, please make sure that the water from the faucet is warm to the touch; you can then attach the quick connect assembly with hose to the faucet and start the unit. If the water temperature does not reach 120 degrees F the dishwasher will not be able to run thru the entire cycle properly. If this is being done and the same code comes up, we will need a service tech in you area to diagnose the problem for us. For a warranty servicer in your area you can reach us at 800-263-2629 Mon-Thu 8:30-5 or Fri 8:30-4 EST."

The plastic connector separates from the metal faucet attachment when I turn on the water (PS I have the Danby 496)

IF IT IS NEW, PARTS SHOULD HAVE A 1 YEAR WARRANTY.
GO BACK TO THE PLACE YOU PURCHASED IT AND HAVE THEM ORDER A NEW CONNECTOR. IT SHOULD COME WITH
THE HOSES AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS UNSCREW THE
HOSES FROM THE BACK OF THE DISWASHER AND INSTALL THE NEW ONES. IF IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, MAKE SURE ALL OF THE SCREWS ARE TIGHT IN THE CONNECTOR. OTHERWISE, REPLACE THE CONNECTOR.
