If I attach my camera to usb (on front of printer} It prints fine. On my old camera no problem for aprox. 5 years {Olympus EN-20} New camera Canon EOS 40D. I purchased two more on E-bay, As soon as I put the cards in,it started acting up on all the printers.I called canon, says there camera was not at fault. CalledSan Disk, they said there cards couldn't cause any problems. I formated the card that would't read, and the print light flashed red{card error. I just tried it and it seems to work-will advise.

Talked too soon. I put my lexar 512mb card in,and you guessed it, reverse color. This card was never fomated for the canon, Why does the card effect the picture,by the way if I hit print, it prints it inreverse.

I tried this with & without a card, makes no difference.

The photo's are correct on my canon camera & on my hp 7410 all in one. When I print from the canon using photosmart 8450 - no problem. All the problem is in the lens reader on the 8450. I think I had a defective card that burned out a circuit in the 8450 ???

If this is happening on mulitple printer then the common variable points to the CF card. Do you have another cf card or even an sd card to test with? Did you try resetting the printer to it's defaults? Do the pictures come up OK on the computer or is it on the printer's screen? Do they also print inverted?

According to the manual here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00...

You can set the printer to print in solarize mode which reverses the tones of the picture. Refer to page 8 where it says to press the menu button then navigate to the edit menu, then to the add color effect submenu, make sure that is set to "no effect". Also also do this while browsing the pictures in question on the memory card in question. The printer might remember the last menu settings you used for each picture or in general. Also check the settings without the memory card in the printer.

I think this is a feature and not a problem.

Did you check for the solarize setting in the menus?

Can you try the card in your pc, do the pictures look ok on your pc?

it may be defective, but check if you can use it with your pc first, you should be able to use the printer as a card reader if you have it connected to your pc, you should see the card in your computer (Desktop -> my computer)

tell me does the same thing happen to the pictures when your viewing them on the pc?

Yes, you should have received a USB cable with your camera. If not, take the camera to Radio Shack for a match-up.

HP PSC 1610 All-In-One - Memory card Error

Pulling out the card without using the 'Safely remove Hardware feature' risks corrupting data on the card. Reformat the card in the camera. Also with compact flash it is a simple matter to wreck the some of the tiny pins in the card slot. Check out both these and come back

Dead printer

I am afraid this is a fairly fatal error. It can sometimes be recovered in one of two ways: 1) Unplug the unit for at least 24hrs and once unplugged press all the buttons at the same time for a couple of seconds. Leave the unit alone. After 24 hrs or so plug it in and try again. Chances are it will be the same 2) Flash the firmware with either the same or updated version. This would require a copy of the service utility and latest firmware to upload. VERY hard to get hold of either. A final chance may be to get a second printer with say a broken head and pinch the main board from that to repair your own.
