HP laptop needs repair

Hello. I bought an HP laptop from Best Buy in Manassas, VA about 18 months ago. It is now in need of repair. While it is working ok, it has a "cosmetic' issue that needs to be addressed. The screen has broken away from the base in one of the corners and it is slowly coming apart. I have to be very careful when opening it and I fear that it will soon not be functional. Here is my question-I know that Manassas best Buy has GEEK SQUAD, but do I need to make an appointment befoer taking in computer. Also, how long should I expect it to be gone? As said, it is a work computer and in constant use. I think it's an HP Pavillion laptop-6000 series. Thanks-Kate

I could repair it in 1hr but i'm in jamaica. so , next options may a day or two max. you see this is a small problem to pull the lappy apart and replace with new hinge cover and whatever else is damage. the only problem is availability of the damage body part. remember the rating . thanks.

Hi i have a HP DV9823 Laptop whch i paid £499 for just over 18 months ago. It kept gettin hot and turnin off so we bought a laptop stand to lift it off the deck and this seemed to solve the problem....

You'll have to give HP a call and explain the problem to them.
Click on the link below and either give them a call or chat to one of their technicians.

You'll probably have to end up sending it in for repair and this could cost if the laptop is out of warranty.
Customer services will tell you if your model is on the recall list. If it is then HP will repair or replace the laptop for free.

Good luck with them and kind regards.

I have two of them. Bought within 1 month of each other from Best Buy almost two years ago. Both have the fan problem. Fan is loud works all the time laptop gets very hot shuts off. My son called hp and...

It's because of the poor cooling design. The Cooling Tube, and Heatsink.

Processor overheats, and turns off.

Also causes the Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS, GPU, to lift up out of it's BGA , on the motherboard.

Graphics Processing Unit.

Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS, (GPU)

BGA (Ball Grid Array) ]

Not recommended by me, but this is someones approach, which part of it helps the cooling system with the Processor.

My battery is jst plugged in ,its not charging...there is some problem with laptop pins so its hard to connect adapter with laptop..yet i hve purchase it 6 months before...

If the pins are bent or out of place on the adapter you will need to buy another adaptor.

If you bought this laptop new 6 months ago the store or manufacture warranty should still be good.

Power question

Remove the ac adapter and battery. Hold the power botton down for 1 minute to discharge the system. Reconnect the ac adapter and restart the computer. If it doesn't restart then your notebook needs a new system board. Check your warranty and return to HP for repair. Remove the hard drive from the notebook if you want to keep your files intact. HP can repair your notebook without the hard drive. I bought mine 18 months ago and the system board is covered for 2 years.

Limited Warranty on HP Laptop??

Cracked screens are never covered by a limited warranty. A limited warranty from a manuf. covers defects in product or workmanship at the factory. Screens can run 600-1200 bucks.
