I have a clothes dryer, Kenmore model 110.97284100, that was in my basement when the basement flooded to about 12 inches. The unit was plugged in at the time. The light still goes on inside but the unit will not start. The washing machine was setting next to it and worked fine after it dried out. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting this or is the unit toast. Thanks, Brian

Sorry to hear about the flooded basement ..here in Virginia i only had a couple trees down and power go off for 12 hrs but no flooded basement.
Their is no way to clean/clear the igniter persay..gotta check and see what shorted out due to the flood...this tip i wrote explains what to check on gas dryers when they dont heat. http://www.fixya.com/support/r10293028-gas_dryer_not_heating
Good luck i hope this help you to figure out why your dryer isnt heating, GENE
almost every dryer i've seen that was under water needed the motor replaced, check with a meter to see if power is going to motor,if it is then you know it's the motor, and i'd bet 95 percent of the time it will be the motor
water can damage alot of the parts on the washer and dryer the motor would have been completly under water on both units and the control on the dryer would have gottin wet as a repair man anything can be fixed but to what cost
First, there is an excellent chance you have some kind of flood damage insurance. It may pay for part of the repair. You did not tell us what is not working but I'll guess it is the motor. On many models, there is a switch on the motor which will not allow the elements to heat unless the motor is powered and running.
First I would remove motor and put it in an oven for a few hrs at min temperature like 200 degrees then I would remove motor centricical switch and push in the actuator tab a few times, then put it back in. Use a cheater cord plugged into pins 4&5 and see if the motor runs, it should.
