Question about Canon C3380i Color Copier
Hello Two Dogs280, This code is specific to magenta.Basically the device puts a patch of each color one at a time on the transfer belt. The copier looks at the patch in an effort to optimize the density (amount of toner) to make sure it is at optimum/correct. The code means that "no matter how hard the device tried" it the patch of magenta toner it was using as a benchmark was too weak/light. Now what's odd is that the sensor in the developer unit is happy in the sense that it feels it is not starved for toner,or it would have sent a prompt to replace the empty toner cartridge. So the toner IS there. But the ATR sensor(U16) is not seeing what it expects. This leads me to believe that possibly the dustproofing glass for magenta is dirty.There is a dustproofing glass for all 4 colors. And there is a long blue wand mounted inside the front door(looks like a **** toothbrush) that is used to clean the afore mentioned glasses.There are four small slots (one under each drum) that provide access to the idividual dustproofing glasses. If they are dirty then an accurate calibration cannot be performed. Next would be to clean or replace the ATR sensor. A distinct possible cause, but not the first thing to jump on. I am not sure to what degree of expertise/training you have with this copier but you are obviously smarter than the average bear as you steered into replacing the drum/dev units.
