I figured it out,it was the cpu chip, had to throw another in ,then add some thermal paste onto it then bang!!!! it was running as it should.

  • pices74 Jun 26, 2010

yes tat the time it was very hot didn't see that until later, and also running high without any programs open..So did all the usual, ran scans, took out the memory, took out the battery for a while. But then open took out the fan and cpu, took a look at it ..the thi9ng was all the metal to metal. Thank God a friend had an extra chip (I had a 1.7 ghz he had a 2.8ghz) . Took that threw it in ,and threw some thermal paste on it ,and waited till bios accepted chip then moved on to checking things out ,and no more problems, now I have a satisfied customer...thanks for all who responded.

The red light is the hard disk monitor LED - it blinks when some data is transferred to and from the disk.
If the cpu is at 100% with no visible programs open then there's a background program that's the cause - open Task Manager, find it and uninstall it.

May 25th my CISnet computer would not start Windows, a file was missing. I did not have my Windows CD so I let the CISnet do the Restore. Can I undo the change after my CISnet computer restore to original...

Try the following;

1. Press "Start" on your Cisnet computer's desktop screen. Scroll up to "Accessories," then hover over "System Tools." Click on "System Restore."

2. Click the option that allows you to select a different restore point, rather than using the default restore point. The program will display a calendar.

3. Select a specific point to restore your Cisnet computer to by choosing a date from the calendar display. Click the "Next" button to confirm, then click "Finish" to close out system restore. Your Cisnet computer will restart and open with the selected settings.

Be sure that you do not unplug your Cisnet computer while running system restore because it will need sufficient battery life to complete the program.

I have a Cisnet C-28 and I'm moving to Australia. I cannot find out if the computer is compatible with 220/240v.. do you know?

Read the Cisnet AC adapter. It should say input:120-240V, 50-60Hz to work with 240v power anywhere in the world. You just need an outlet adapter for the country you're in.

Turn on tv no picture no sound standby light starts green changes to flashing red

the number of red light flashes indicate where the fault lies...sony error codes are easy enough to find if you google the model with the number of flashes.hope this helps somewhat as you dont say how many blinks!!
regards,steve.
ps.line output transformer failure rates are quite high on these sets, usually resulting in two red blinks-pause-two red blinks-pause etc...

I had to replace the motherboard, now have problems with XP

A few hints where to start looking:
  • Open the Task Manager, switch to the Performance tab and check the CPU load. If you see a constant high CPU usage, switch to the Processes tab and check which process causes the high CPU load (column "CPU").
Also check the memory usage graph on the Performance tab. Memory usage should be low, let's say around 400MB if not many programs are running.
In the "Physical Memory" section, check the Total value. It should (approximately) show the amount of memory actually installed.
  • Open the Device Manager (Control Panel --> System --> Hardware tab --> Device Manager).
If error icons are displayed, try to reinstall the drivers for these devices (download the latest versions from the manufacturer's website, if possible)
  • Open the Event Viewer (Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Event Viewer) . Check all logs for errors and warnings. Try to understand and to solve the problems. Especially pay attention to those that did not occur before the time that you changed the motherboard.

Computer would not boot up, only showed red light

I'd say power supply first.

If you have an expansion slot filled with a video card, remove the video card (provided you have onboard video connector as well) then try to reboot. I just went through similar issues with an GForce video card, it went bad, but the machine appeared to boot althugh I couldn't see the screen. Removed the card & it came up using minimal VGA drivers provide with WinXP.

Obviously you cannot check the video driver if you're not booting up...and seeing the screen.

Find a buddy with a regular monitor and hook it up and try to boot. Dell monitors sometimes require their propietary drivers, so write down the model when you take your pc to a friend's place, and DL the driver and install it (provided you got it to boot up)

If the repair store said the CPU or MB is bad... buy a newer computer.
