Not really, the condenser must be able to draw air from the outside and must stay outside, sideways the A/C will not function properly.

SOURCE: can I install the unit in the window sideways?

Not really unless you can divertthe hot air from the back side to the outside and and the cool air and intake to the inside, you could do it with some clear tape and some plastic sheeting , but better to build a frame to hold it outside facing in two L brackets then tape it up with some thick plastic.

If I understand you, you are trying to install the A/C unit in a sliding window, yes?

They make a window unit specifically designed for these kinds of windows. You cannot use a standard A/C unit and you can't run it on its side.

Air conditioners work by taking water out of the air, so there is some drainage needed. It is possible your drain line is clogged and it isn't coming out the normal drain. You can also add an extention to the drain line, to get it past her window. Just make sure you route the line no less than one inch per foot drop if you can sideways.

Hello, unfortunatly itncannot be put in sideways because for one it would not cool the room and second it would be very ineficiant.

I have a window air conditioner Hampton Bay the window only opens to the side and the unit is to wide can i put it on its sideways? Will the conditioner run and be ok like this?

No,it will not,the ac compressor has to be setting the correct way,and the ac line on top of the compressor has to drip,to help cool the compressor, you will have to make the window wider to use this unit,if this was at all helpful, please rate, and thank you.

Window air conditioner

Hi, yes you can put a window unit through a wall. Just make sure that the condensation will drain from the indoor coil to the out side which it should do on its own design. Also, make sure that the condenser coil at the rear of the unit is all out side. You will have no problems at all. You can use 2- peices of small chain at each corner and use small lag bolts to secure it to the wall. Looks better then to build a frame to set it on for support. Yes, they are made to install in either place.
Best of Luck,

Can i install Goldstar air conditioner in the window sideways?

No. This will cause the oil in the compressor to move into other parts of the system where it's not supposed to be. This will cause the compressor to lock up. Also, some units use the condensate water to help cool the condenser. Sideways will kill it.

I was wondering if you can install the air conditioner vertical instead of horizontal since the window is too small

NOOOOO. The compressor in it is mounted and can only sit one way. If you install it sideways it will burn up the compressor
