Idle problem w/ Stihl FS 75 weedeater

Recently brought a stored Stihl FS 75 back to life. I can't get it to slow down at idle. Adjusted the LA screw as far as it goes (clockwise) and the thing still roars after I start it. Just want the thing to slow down and for the cutting head to stop moving at idle otherwise it'll burn out. Probably a simple solution, but I'm not a vet with these things.

Repair manual

Hi Robert:
Before you remove or try to adjust your low and high speed jets you should always count the number of turns it takes to lightly seat the idle mixture screw and high speed needle adjusting screws.
Be sure to write the number of turns down on a piece of paper so you will know how many turns from the seated position to open the jets when you go to reinstall them, or if you remove them for cleaning or replacement.
If you have aready tried to adjust them then the adjustments below should get it running for you for final adjustment when warm.
Normally you will adjust your idle jet to 1/2-3/4 turn open from the bottom seated position.
Then you will re-adjust the low speed of the engine when the engine is warm by turning the idle screw in or out till the engine runs smoothly at idle speed, around 1200 RPM.
The high speed jet is adjusted to 1 1/2- 1 3/4 open from the bottom seated position, after the engine is warm.
Then re-adjusted by turning the High Speed jet adjustment screw in or out till the motor runs smoothly at high speed.
Alway use the "lightly seated" method if you have not changed the screw settings.

THE FS 46C WEEDEATER WILL IDLE JUST FINE, BUT WILL NOT REV UP WHEN PULLING ON THE TRIGGER. THE THROTTLE CABLE IS NOT DISCONNECTED AND THE CARB IS CLEAN. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

easy... if the carb adjustments are still factory set the you just need to replace the muffler screen or also called a spark arrester.it covers the muffler exit....

Stihl FS200 repair manual

I just saw this deal on the Fs200 Stihl Brushcutter. Equipped with a Zama c1qs51 carb. Junk the carb. Go to a stihl dealer and buy a three screw chainsaw type carb with a high low and idle screw. The c1qs51 is junk. The three school carb will put an end to your worries. Of course change your fuel filter naturally. I guarantee this will fix the thing. I own an Fs200 and Fs250.

When i give my stihl weedeater (fs 55) gas it dies. i changed the gaskets in the carburetor, new spark plug, new air filter. it idles fine just when i give it throttle it dies

This could be from a bad fuel filter (has a dark appearance when dry), from the spark arrestor screen in the muffler being plugged up with carbon deposits (take out the spark arrestor screen and clean it by burning off the carbon deposits), or the carburetor needs to be adjusted. If the carburetor needs to be adjusted I would take it to the nearest Stihl dealer that has a Gold Certified Technician. That way the unit is adjusted properly and is in good running condition. You can find a local dealer with the dealer locator. The link is HERE.

My stihl weedeater starts and idles fine but does not get power.

I have a Stihl FS 45 and have had problems with it running for a short time then cutting out. The problem is like to be either- the filter attached to end end of the fuel pick hose that goes down into the fuel tank is blocked or- there is a crack or split in the corrugated section of the fuel pick up hose between the fuel tank and the carburettor. If such a crack or split exists it will cause air to be sucked in with the fuel upsetting the fuel/air ratio. A new hose not adjustment is the only cure
