With mower off check the blades, its easy to put them on upside down which kills the cutting and bagging.

Just had the same problem and I wonder if yours may be the same. Inside the cutting deck just above the blade is a large plastic blower fan. It serves to blow the grass out the rear as well as preventing cuttings from getting up to the motor and clogging the blade. y fan has totally disintegrated from stone damage. Paid A$158 for a new one.

Tony you may be cutting too much too soon. Try running over the grass slowly with the back guard opened slightly so any grass can still spill onto the ground. When youv'e done one run put the grass box on and go over half a width of the mower at a time but start on a reasonable height.

Wierd grass catcher problem

There are a couple of causes for this. Is the blade height the same on the new mower? Higher blade height could cause a lot of the grass to be blown out from under the deck, and not into the catcher chute.

On the trailing edge of the mower blades is a small 'wing' for lack of a better term. There are two types of blades, mulching blades that have a lower 'wing', while catcher blades that have a slightly higher 'wing' but it makes a difference.

If the season has been hot lately, the grass may not be growing as fast, hence less clippings, and less dense grass could also cause this.

Yard machine 21" 6.5 does not catch all clipping when bagging dry grass. Under deck is clean and the deck height is even. Also leaves blades of grass uncut. The mover is brand new and the blade is very...

Did you buy this mower from a dealer and built up and checked over or did you buy it in a box and put it together yourself? i suspect you probably bought it in a box and put it together yourself as it sounds as though the engine isnt reving high enough. Briggs and stratton engines are well known to come out of the box with the engines reving much lower than they should be. you will need to check and adjust the high speed engine revs to approx 2900-3100 rpm

I have a MTD Pro riding lawn mower that I

the only way to fix it is fit the right blades
they have fitted the wrong blade's to it,,,
the blades should overlap when cutting the grass they cannot crash into each other as there are (timed up) not to do that the new blades they fitted are to short so you have no over lap on the gutters that leaves a strip of grass left uncut between the blades,,
call them out to put this stupid mistake right,,,

How to put drive belt on blades of an MTD JE 130

Hello There
I am in the garden machinery trade, and I had to fit a belt to a MTD JE130 today.
Here is how to do it (link).
What I would add is, look at your blades and work out what directing your pulleys should be turning, this will help (I even put arrows on them).
Also because this belt runs with a twist, remember the twist is always twisted coming out of the pulley, not going in.
I hope this helps someone, because I couldn't get any where with the MTD links myself I found on the web.
Cheers
Adam

Engine stalls when blade is engaged

the best way to check is to run the engine with you on it then lift off the seat and see if the seat sensor is cutting off then put a bag with some weight in it and turn on the engine it should run ok if the sensor is working and lift the back box to see if the sensor works there.. the other cause could be a build up of grass in teh cutter area stopping the blades fron moving this can caus a stall if you get a hose and blast under the cutter guards and make shure the grass shute is clear for the grass to exit this may help to mine cuts out if there is a blockage here and the grass cant get out after it has been cut it builds up at the exit plates.. Hope this works AB

I have a MTD garden tractor with 3 bag catcher and the shute constantly plugs up. I mow once a week but it's like there isn't enough vaccum to blow the grass into the bags. I have my blades with the bent...

bent part of the blades need to be facing up towards your deck which creates a vacuum and allows a better lift to throw the grass in the bag When bagging blades should be labeled as high lift blades which are designed for bagging . Also which you probably already know its better to bag when the grass is NOT damp.
Hope this helps your issue

My husband says our mower wont cut in reverse but i have before

It will cut in reverse, but because of the rotation of the blades and where the discharge shoot is located it doesnt cut quite as good because it is try to discharge the grass on the opposite side of the deck while going backwards. Also, the is a factory installed safety switch that will kill the engine when the transmission is placed into reverse with the mower deck engaged. Because I dont wish for anyone to be accidentally injured do to the safety switch being bypassed i will not tell you how to bypass it. I know it is a pain in the **** that the thing quits everytime you just need to go back a few inches. Just find someone who will show you how to bypass it, its real simple.
