I tried using my HP Photosmart 318 photo imaging software for windows, but it is good only up to XP. I now have a Vista. What is my next step to be able to use my HP 318 on my Microsoft Vista? Thanks.

As a work-around, you should try using Picasa to download the pictures off of your camera.

Picasa is a free download from Google and has many cutting-edge features for picture management. I think that you'll like it.
  • Download Picasa from their web site (click here) to your Desktop
  • Once the Picasa file has completed downloading, Open the file and follow the directions displayed.
  • Once you have Picasa installed, connect your Olympus camera. Picasa will recognize that you have connected the camera and ask you how you want to proceed.
  • Have Picasa copy the images from your camera
  • You can then use Picasa to handle the photos from your camera.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for using FixYa and Happy New Year!

I have a Samsung Kenox S800, but cannot view video on Vista Home Premium. I have installed the original disc, but seems there is a codec problem. It works fine on XP, but I'm phasing out that computer.

Personally I'd keep the XP and phase out the Vista.
Vista had serious issues with many programs not adapted for it.
With Windows 7 they usually work though, and with some systems you can choose to run the software in XP mode. If it cant do that on your Vista it may be worth considering upgrading to W7 - some small PC shops help with that if you aren't sure how to.

Hi,

You can download the installation driver and software from manufacturer's support website by clicking this link

On the page which opens, select the operating system of your computer (Windows Xp/ Vista..) from the drop-down menu and click the "Next" button. Then download the required drivers and software.

The list of available software will load only after selecting the operating system of the computer.

Click on the "+" sign next to the list to expand the list and view details. To read the detailed installation instruction, click on "More info" link under each driver/software.

You can also order a replacement installation disk on the page which opens.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.

When I bought camera I had Windows XP. New computer has Vista.

So you now have Vista, but the software will not load...

If you have Windows Vista (32-bit), click this link and download the "HP photosmart software and drivers" package. Install by directions.

Question about usb download

Try going to vivitar website and they should have a plug in for it if the camera is a recent make. see if your computer has a card reader in it. It will be a slot that you memory card can fit in. if not you can buy one at any camera store and use the vista editing software.

Software

hi,

if you are using Windows XP or Vista, you dont need software to transfer your photos to the PC.

all you need is the USB cable to connect the camera to PC.

change your camera settings to this before hooking up the camera.

FIND THE USB OPTION IN YOUR CAMERA MENU AND SELECT MASS STORAGE OPTION, THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO CONNECT & VIEW THE PHOTOS LIKE A REMOVABLE HARD DRIVE OR JUMP DRIVE.

good luck!
