There are programs that can still recover data from formatted storage media.

Try to download recuvva and EASUS software here. It's free to use.

RECUVA => Download HERE
EASUS => Download HERE

Just give it a try and wishing you luck.

Regards,
Jess

Formatting means erasing all the information from the memory stick. When you format you will loose all your data on your memory stick.

I have bought the Breath of fire 3 game for PSP and i have a formatted 4gb memory stick duo. It tells me over and over that there is insufficient memory. I verified i do not have a fake memory stick.

Does the memory stick work with other games. Did you remove the memory stick and format in windows?.Maybe you formatted using the NTFS file system if formatted in windows.Format the memory stick again in windows to FAT32 and it should work.

You can format any size Memory Stick Duo in the Sony PSP by doing this:
  1. Push the little HOME button on the bottom left of the face of the unit.
  2. Use the arrow keys to move to the SETTINGS area, then move the up and down keys until you get to System Settings.
  3. Once you are there, click on the "X" button and scroll up and down as needed to find Format Memory Stick. Click on "X" again to select that option.
  4. The Sony PSP will now confirm that you want to reformat the memory stick (which removes every file and game save thereon, of course): choose yes and it'll format in just a few seconds.
Now you have a pristine new Memory Stick to work with and should have no problems with music, photos or other material you might seek to copy onto your PSP.
Hope this works...

How to "Format" your memory Stick on Sony PSP.

With Memory Sticks, SD etc, I recommend that every so often, regardless, and particularly, when you first buy a memory stick. You must reformat it on the Sony PSP. So that anything added by the memory stick manufacturer is removed, along with any hidden files you might have accidentally added.

Corrupt memory stick

It needs to be replaced.
You can try reformatting it but 9 times out of 10 that doesn't work. If you want to try it do this:
1. Remove the corrupt memory stick from your PSP.
2. Go to system settings and choose format memory stick.
3. When it tells you all the data will be deleted and asks if you're sure, insert the corrupt memory stick and choose yes.
Either way you are going to lose all your data from memory so make sure you go ahead and say yes to this.

It that doesn't work - try formatting it with your computer.

Memory stick does not work

Connect the memory stick to your PC and format there. If it still fails, it's highly likely that your memory stick needs replacement

I cannot find mp_root when i connect psp into pc

Okay the easiest way is to re-format your memory stick using your psp. Just make sure you save any files over to your pc (like games saves, pics,etc, etc...)

1 go to system setting on your XMB menu click on it
2 look for format memory stick click on that (make sure you saved what ever you have on your memory stick that you wanted to save because it will erase everything on your card)
3 click yes to proceed and it will re-format your stick and you should have all the necessary files folders on your memory stick.

IF you still having trouble please feel free to ask. :D

Up loading music, Vids, Pics, Themes

get a memory stick duo of any Gigabyte size you want, Turn on the psp and insert the memory stick duo.Navigate to SETTINGS, under SETTINGS scroll to the SYSTEM SETTINGS and press the X buttom. system settings will appear, then scroll to the FORMAT MEMORY STICK and press the X buttom.
a message will appear and select yes, this will format the memory stick duo and create folders like MUSIC, VIDEO ,PICTURES etc. required by the psp.
restart the psp system and you are good to go. remember to save MP3 songs you want to play on your psp to the MUSIC Folder on the memory stick duo when you connect it to your computer in USB mode. if you want to play WMA format songs, navigate to system settings and select the ACTIVATE WINDOWS MEDIA AUDIO(WMA), make sure you are in a wireless hotspot to connect to the internet to activate WMA playback.
