Hi.

First ensure that it is not a setting problem, flash is faulty when the flash is not shooting under any condition. Setting and light conditions sometimes can cause the flash not shooting.

Also ensure that the problem happens with charged batteries, while the rest of the camera functions are regularly working.

If the flash is never working, then the fault is likely the flash capacitor.
To operate the flash the camera uses a circuit that stores charge into a capacitor. When the capacitor fails, the flash will not shoot, and the led will turn on only occasionally, when a small charge for the the led is stored in the faulty flash control circuit. Thepower will still not be enough to turn the flash on because the faulty capacitor will not be able to store charge.

To fix the problem is necessary complete camera disassembly, and the job must be done by a technician.

To arrange repair call Panasonic at the number listed on the owners manual. You can also get a quote from a third party here: Repair or Camera repair US-CA.

If you want to attempt repairing the camera by yourself, here the full service manual.

Hello, thanks for coming back to me. Sorry to sound so useless but if I wanted to make sure it wasn't a setting issue first what would eb the best way for me to check that please?

Failign that I will try and see how much it would cost to get a camera repair place to do it or try the DIY method on the manual.

    Hi.

When I mention setting problems, I mean that the flash is set not to shoot. You can reset camera settings simply by removing battery. Then ensure that the camera is set to flash mode. There are several shooting modes that can disable the flash.

I forgot to mention that other thing that may be attempted (to test all ways) is a firmware upgrade. Firmware is a delicate matter, as if you install wrong firmware the camera may not function. Firmware also depend on your location, and updates for specific model may not be available.
The best way to obtain the right firmware update (if available) is by contacting panasonic and asking them. Firmware is however unlikely the cause of your trouble, since no update has been done, and flash was working with same firmware before. A firmware update is

Regarding disassembly and testing, this is done removing the covers, testing connector to flash, and flash assembly. The operation must be done by a professional or by an experienced DIYer, or you risk to inflict more damage to the camera.

Regarding the repair, the cost depends on model and part price. Ask a free quote from any of the websites above, or contacting panasonic. A camera repair with parts needed will start at about $50.

My camera doesnt' work indoors. i try to take a picture and it doesnt' take when I'm in AUTO mode. However, when I'm in LANDSCAPE mode the pic will take. it seems like the flash isn't active in AUTO...

You must have a software glitch because the flash is supposed to be in the auto mode when the selector is in auto, unless you manually turn the flash off and the flash should go back to auto every time the camera is turned off and back on. Here's a work around. Turn the dial to indoor and use the flash button on the ring to set the flash to auto. In the indoor setting you can set the flash to on, off, or auto.
