You should refresh your XP installation if you have installation CD at your disposal. Make sure not to select clean install!

If you visit the HP website it will help you find your drivers. There is even an auto scan for drivers on the site to help you get the right ones.

I recommend you going to control panel under hardware and sound device manager and check to see if your sound drivers are corrupted, if they are unninstall them and reboot your computer, but if they aren't in the list you will have to install your sound card latest drivers my going to the manufacturer website of the sound card and downloading them because without them your sound card will not work

I have a Hp Pavilion a1268c Desktop, running Windows XP Professional. I need some of the drivers, like the audio driver, Media card reader driver, and a few more, but Hp's website doesn't have any of...

looks like they dont list them, if you go to device manager (Vista: type device in the search section) XP control panel, hardware, and get the names or the reader, sound card, and google them, you should find the files you need. or email HP and ask them if they can send you them.

Have windows xp service pack 3 loaded don't have sound

Goto Start, Control Panel, add or remove programs. Uninstall the sound card drivers. Reload the Sound card drivers from your Setup CD. Every thing should work fine then. When you load SP3 some of the drivers get corrupted (lost).

Desktop doesnt boot.

If you have a windows XP recovery CD, try running that at boot.

also, try pressing the f8 key to boot windows in safe mode.

it sounds like a corrupted OS install: if you can't recover, you may have to reformat your hard drive and reinstall windows.
