Go into the system bios. From there, there is an option concerning configuring parts that are not essential to boot up. By default, it is configured to let the bios configure everything. If you change it to allow the operating system to configure the parts that are non-essential for booting the computer, it will behave much better. I know this because I did it for my aunt's computer and it seemed to help.

Is the router always on? if not, leave it on all the time. If your computer is always in the same place and you don't have other computers connecting you could try putting aluminium foil behind the anntena to direct more of the signal.
If your router wireless light isn't always on or flashes, then the problem lies in the router, not the computer.
hope this helps in some way :)

    also if you have a microwave oven near the computer, say on the other side of the wall, it may affect performance too. other kinds of of strong electrical equipment may interfere also, just something to think about. hope this helped ;)

My wireless connection is not working on my inspiron,what should i do?

Cheapest steps first, getting more progressively expensive as the list progresses:

1) Upgrade the BIOS for the system, available at support.dell.com
2) Upgrade the chipset drivers to the latest version, same website.
3) Upgrade the wireless card drivers to the latest version, same website.
4) Re-set the wireless antennas. Usually you can access the WLAN mini-PCI card at the bottom of the systems. It will have two small wires connected to it, one white and one black wire.
5) Re-seat the wireless card. It's like a large RAM SO-DIMM chip, snap-in and out.
6) Perform a system restore (hopefully it doesn't come to that)
7) Re-install windows

More expensive:
8) Replace the WLAN card.
9) Replace the system board.

-unable to connect to wireless -unable to open internet explorer msg states "unable to connect due to error on this site" (yahoo) -Is there a reset botton for wireless -Called my internet Co,...

Your problem may appear from a not properly enabled WLAN card.
Make sure the Wi-Fi swithc is in ON position and on your laptop keyboard try the FN+F8 combination to have displayed the wireless card status. The WLAN card has to be ENABLED to be able to connect to the Internet. The combination done will make appear on your display a window with some options available; choose that option that enables your wireless card.
Also check in your computer's DEVICE MANAGER if your WLAN card is working properly. To do so follow these simple steps:
1. START and click on SYSTEM;
2. in SYSTEM option click on DEVICE MANAGER;
3. on DEVICE MANAGER option go at NETWORK ADAPTERS and see if there your wireless card is indicated and it shows that it is working PROPERLY;
4. if an UNKNOWN DEVICE is indicated then try to find the right driver for you notebook model and WLAN card model;
5. install the driver then REBOOT and recheck in DEVICE MANAGER if your WLAN card is displayed properly this time.

First check if its a drivers issue.. Unistall the drivers and reinstall the latest drivers from the support website of tashiba... Then try to take the WLAN and reinsert it.. Try to get all the wireless networks again and try to connect.. If the issue is not fixed you may have to replace the WLAN card....

Cant get my wireless connection to work not sure

To enable/disable WLAN, please press "Fn+F11" to execute the device: (then follow below steps accordingly)
Note: there are four stages in all, assumingly both bluetooth and wifi are installed.

First stage : press Fn+F11 = Enable WLAN only
Second stage : press Fn+F11 = Bluetooth On + WLAN Off
Third stage press : Fn+F11 = Bluetooth On + WLAN On
Fourth stage press : Fn+F11 = Bluetooth Off + WLAN Off

After enabling the WLAN, search the Access Point and connect with it. Now, you may use the WLAN.

If this does not work, check if the driver is installed in your computer by going to the device manager. check under network adapters. If the driver is installed, uninstall the current driver and restart the computer.

If the issue still persists, you may download the driver update at the msi website: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=nbdriver&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1474. Just make sure the driver you're downloading is compatible with yoru operating system

Does this laptop have a wireless card? I am

Go to START, Control Panel, System, Hardware and search the listing for network cards and see if you laptop shows a wireless card. If it does than you should be able to go to Network Connections and see if you can scan for wireless connections.

Sometimes these laptop need special drivers to enable their wireless card features or hardware based on/off switches for the radios.

Your computers bios might also have the WLAN turned off. Watch the start screen for the button to press for bios and push it and look around to see if there is a WLAN on/off feature and make sure its on.

Good luck and be careful!

I do not see any wireless icon in the network connection...i dont know what to do...please help me....

First go to the control panel > device manager (In XP the manager is in the System folder). Scroll down to network adapters, open it and look at the adapters listed....there should be two, one should be an ethernet card and the other a wireless or WLAN card. Look to see if there are yellow icons by their names. This usualy indicates a problem with either the card or the drivers running them. If they do not have yellow trouble symbols by them, then make sure the wireless switch is turned on either by switch on the outside of the laptop or by an Fn key combination. In the case of your laptop, the switches were optional, but just in case look on the front edge of your laptop, by the audio jacks on the left side should be your wlan switch, make sure it is in the "on" position. If there are yellow icons by the wireless, try right clicking on the adapter and uninstalling it. Then reboot, make sure you are connected to the internet via ethernet cable, you will want to let windows search windows update for a new driver when it reinstalls the device upon rebooting. See if that takes care of the problem. Also, if you have changed the way your system boots like say "selective startup" through the msconfig command, that may need to be temp. changed until this is cleared up, then you can go back to it.

Can not connect to internet using wireless

Did you input the WEP key? I will assume you are using Windows XP. So go to control panel, network connections and then go to the wireless connection and then select view wireless connections double click on the one with the highest strength, which should be your 2wire. When it asks for the network security key type in the numbers that are located on the sticker on the bottom of your router between the [########] brackets.

Wireless network connection problem

Ok with a peripheral on USB or on PC card bay you can try to connect to a Wireless lan:
Please check this tip on the subject
To connect to an existing WLAN you must be sure your wireless card is working: I assume you installed all the related sw coming with the wlan card.
Using the card installed driver check card is enabled and running (in Control Panel/Network connection should be visible and enabled)
Then you can connect to an open Wi-Fi HOTSPOT or to your WLAN you configure with a router connected to your internet modem.
  1. To connect to an existing HOTSPOT: find a location where you know a wi-fi access point (HOTSPOT) is active: Internet cafe,, library, airport,, station, hotel etc.your card should be able to find the existing network when you select "show existing network" in wlan driver. Connect if network is "unsecure" (= no password or key is required) or ask for password if you can get it for a fee (hotel)
  2. To connect to your home or office WLAN be sure to use a router (or access point) with same standard of your card (802-11G or B or A or N) with same security protocol (WEP or WPA) and configure your router Internet access BEFORE wireless access. Connect your PC to your router using a LAN cable and be sure you can browse through the router.(contact your ISP for router specs if you need it: PPOA/E and other). Follow the tip and your router doc for settings
