Question about MSI Wind U100-030US Laptop

1 Answer

My msi wind wont start!!! i was trying to reinstall my windows using the recovery disk, so restarted my wind but mistakenly pressed f12 instead of f11 to run the boot set-up, but my screen froze (totally hang) so i unplugged the power cord and the battery as a last resort to shut it down, then when i turned it on again the usual prompt is gone (intel logo). I tried pressing any key but nothing happened, the power button is lit but there's nothing on the screen.. Im not a technical person so thank you in advance for those who can help...

I'd like to help you, but it is very difficult to diagnose based on your description. We will need to gather more info as we try a few things.
1. Why are you reinstalling? 2. How old is the system? 3. Try the following & let me know the result: turn system back on. When the normal LED indicators are on, press & hold down the power button for 4+ seconds until everything goes off. 4. If step 3 worked, then turn power on & hit bios setup key (f2?). 5. See if HDD is detected.

How do I return my msi wind u180 to factory settings

Use the recovery partition on your MSI laptop to recover its original factory settings. Recovering your MSI laptop to its original factory settings will resolve problems with instability that you may be experiencing as a result of missing system files that were accidentally deleted. Recovering your MSI laptop to its original factory settings will also completely remove any viruses on your computer's hard drive that you were unable to remove with anti-virus software. Fortunately, you can wipe all of the information off your laptop's hard drive and start with a clean slate.

Instructions
  • 1
Turn on or restart your laptop. Press "F3" repeatedly when the MSI logo appears on the screen during the boot process to be redirected to the "Windows Boot Manager."
  • 2
Highlight "Windows Setup [EMS Enabled]" using the arrow keys on the keyboard. Press "Enter" to access the recovery partition on the hard drive of the MSI laptop. The "System Recovery Option" dialog box will appear on the screen. Click "MSI Recovery Manager." Click "OK" when a message appears on the screen notifying you that your computer will be restored to its original factory settings.
  • 3
Click "OK" when a message appears notifying you that the hard drive will be formatted to begin the recovery process. A dialog box with a status bar will appear to indicate how much time is left in the recovery process. Depending on the size of your hard drive as well as how much personal data needs to be erased, the recovery process could take up to 45 minutes.
  • 4
Click "OK" when a dialog box appears on the screen indicating that the recovery process is complete. Your laptop will automatically restart and boot up to the Windows setup screen, where you can begin personalizing the settings for your Windows operating system.

How do i clean my computer up with the recovery disc?

The procedure is to insert the disk ..and restart and boot from CD ..If the boot order is already set to boot from CD first ..it will prompt you to press any key to start ..or ..you will need to press F11 or f12 to choose from the menu ..either the recovery will start when you choose f11..or if you choose F12 you have to select the boot from disk drive ..and hit enter ..Confirm by pressing any key and will start ..select the complete reinstalling of the operation system ..and if it asks ..select the C drive and format it if it asks ..
If the recovery disk you have does not contain the operation system but just the recovery for the drivers.you need to install the operation system first from a bot-able disk with the operation system on it ..and the procedure is the same ..Insert disk ..select F12 on start to get to the boot menu .select cd /dvd drive ..and hit enter..when asked ..press a key to confirm the action ..and go with the installation progress and follow instructions ..
The steps in both cases will be the loading of the primary files ..after that the agreement with microsoft ..and will show previous OS ..choose not to repair but new installation ..and select a partition ..(same on C drive ) ..and will ask if you want to keep files or replace ..I suggest not to keep anything and erase the drive and format it in NTFS quick ..and go on..It will load the files..for windows..and restart and this time you do not need to press a key ..but let it continue and finish the job ..
Those steps are for installing from os disks..and some of them will not be present in installing from recovery ..With the recovery disk things will go on automatically ..
Let me know if you have questions ..have a nice day !

I WANT TO RESTORE TO FACTORY SETINGS

If by restore to factory settings you mean reinstall operation system ..you need either a recovery partition or disk ..to use ..or a boot-able disk with the operation system ..
if you have teh recovery partition just press teh key indicated on start for recovery and boot from the partition and proceed for recovery ..or insert the disk ..restart and press any key when asked for to confirm boot from cd ..and proceed with the recovery ..(same way for boot-able disk )
In case it does not boot from disk ..you need to press f12 on start to get to boot menu and select the cd and press enter to force boot from disk ..confirm by any key and go on ..
If you don't have any recovery ..try to borrow or buy or make a boot-able disk ..and install the operation from it ..either by changing boot order in bios or by pressing F12 on start with the disk inside ..select boot from disk and enter ...again press any key to confirm ..and follow instructions ..If you do not know how to do it ..and you are ready to do it anyway...follow one of my services ..and I will guide you by remote assistance to make a disk ..and after that find a way to guide you trough the installing (probably messenger )

Need to reboot

if it has a recovery partition ..just press f11 on start and start to reinstall from it (completely ) ..if it is not working try from boot menu ..(press f12 on start 0 ..and in the menu choose recovery partition .
In case you do not have such partition .try from a recovery disk if you have ..or if this is not available too ..try to use a boot-able disk with a operation system image on it ..and reinstall it ..
To do so ..you need to download an image of the OS , after that burn it on the disk using a image burner ..and end up with a boot-able disk ..
Insert the disk and restart ...press f12 to bring up the boot menu ..select CD /DVD drive and enter ..it will boot from the disk and ask you to press any key to confirm ..After that will start loading files and go on with the process of installing windows.
Good luck !

My dell notebook stoped working it shows only curser on the screen and there are some lines on the screen nothing wrong with the power supply

If it does boot to windows and only does not shows the icons..than you have to click right on the desktop and choose to show icons ..and will be ok ..If the screen you wrote about is just a start screen and it never started windows..than I think it is a windows fault and need to be reinstalled .Do that by entering the recovery partition and go with the total installation of the operation system ..
to do that choose the key indicated on screen and select the action ..
usually on start screen it is written to press F2 for the set-up and f12 for the boot menu and probably F11 for teh recovery ..if it is so ..just press f11 on start ..go to recovery ..choose complete recovery ..and will get it to the factory stage .
If the recovery do not work and you do have a disk for it ..insert the disk and boot from it ..try to boot to recovery with the disk on ..and see if ti works..if it dopes its ok ..if not ..restart . and press F12 to go to boot menu .and choose to boot from CD /DVD drive ..and hit enter .. this will force it to boot from disk and load the recovery .
same procedure with a boot-able disk with operation system, ..in case you do not have any recovery ..or just have recovery for drivers..and you will be forced to use a standard boot-able disk to load the operation system again
have a nice day ..and please rate my answer ..1

I HAVE AN toshiba pro sattelite c660 and the thing is while doing something on the laptop it automatically stops working the mouse pad wont work and neither will the keyboard , the only way to switch of...

This is a classic case of windows being bugged on ..and the virus is to blame for stopping (freezing ) ..You need to reinstall the operation system from scratch ..and format the hard disk C drive during this operation ...
To do that you can use the recovery partition if it has one ..just press f12 or f11 (indicated on screen on start 0 and go to boot menu and select the recovery of operation system ..and if it has a recovery partition will reinstall it ..
If you do not have such a partition ..use the recovery disk ..just insert it ..press f12 and choose the boot from cd ..and enter . pay attention cause it will ask you to press any key to continue ..
In case you do not have a recovery disk either..You will need a boot-able disk with the operation system ...and you have to install the operation system the classic way by booting up from the disk ..
let me know if you do not know how to do it ..and I will try to explain and guide you in making such a disk if you don't have it

I need to reset my laptop. It's locked and i've forgotten the password, and it won't let me get in.

If you are talking about the user password..you have no choice but reinstalling the operation system ...Use the recovery partition if you have one ..or recovery disk ..Or if non of these are a choice ..try with a boot able disk of the operation system ..
the procedure is pretty simple ..with the partition ..if it is present ..just restart he computer and press the F key for boot menu on start ..(its written on the start menu ,,usually is f12 or f11 for hp ) in the boot menu ..choose the recovery partition ..and choose complete reinstall of operation system ..It will bring it to teh factory settings ..
with the disk is a little different ..Insert the disk ..press same boot menu button ..and choose to boot from the disk ..it will ask you to press any key to confirm booting from disk ..and start the procedure..
if you use a operation system boot-able disk ..you proceed like with the recovery disk ..Insert it ..restart ...use the f12 key ..and choose teh cd /dvd as boot device ..and confirm by pressing any key ..and follow instructions ...I suggest to format the C drive before loading the files..(you will have the choice ) ..this way you get rid of any viruses for sure..
You will also need the drivers for it if you use a OS boot-able disk ...so ..download and store them before starting ..
Please ask if you have any questions ..
