This could be a hinge problem. The contact between the hinge to the LCD is having a problem. The only solution for this problem is to have this repaired to your machine manufacturer if it is still under warranty. If not, then you need to get a part number for the hinge and purchased it then bring the computer to a local computer technician and have it repaired.

As much as i wanted you to give the exact price but i am not aware of the pricing for ACER. I have a cousin in New York and he owns a Lenovo laptop. He has the same issue like you laptop. The replacement of the hinge cost him $167 since the unit is already out of warranty. Probably, the price would be that range also for this covered all the back plastic cover and not the hinge only.

Dell, Acer, and HP all used the same manufacture for screens on the 14 and 15" laptops - Many of the laptop 'parts' ordering places (web) will have the screen available.

If you need instruction on the install check through my 'solutions' as I just typed out for similar Dell laptop.

Sansui no signal

Acer produces a number of LCD computer monitors. Acer's monitors range from 17 inches to 27 inches. Some monitors offer wide-screen viewing, embedded speakers, high-definition visuals, and various display connection ports. Acer computer monitor problems include common issues such as dead pixels, error messages, and blank screens caused by incorrect connections. Some reviewers have also detected image problems with DVD playback on some models.

"Input Not Supported" Error Message Acer computer monitors such as the G24 may issue an "Input Not Supported" error message when users set the display resolution too high. The G24's maximum display resolution is 1920x1200 with a 60Hz refresh rate. Maximum resolutions vary according to the specific monitor model and according to the capabilities of the computer's video card. b> "Input Out of Range" b> Some Acer computer monitors may report an "Input Out of Range" error message due to incorrectly set monitor refresh rates. Much like the display resolution, each monitor also has specific monitor refresh rates with which it is compatible. Blank Screen or "No Signal" Error b> Like other monitors, Acer computer monitors feature color-coded power indicator lights. If the power indicator light shows green, the contrast or brightness levels may be set too low and should be adjusted via the OnScreen Display. If this does not rid the monitor of a black screen, the monitor may be experiencing hardware failure. The "No Signal" or "Check Cable message" may indicate a problem with the monitor's cable connection with the video card. This error may also appear on a blank screen backdrop if the monitor is plugged into the incorrect port on the computer or if the computer is frozen and needs to be rebooted. Faulty power cords or outlets may cause the screen to be black and to show no power indicator color. b> Image Issues b> Some review sites such as CNET have reported problems with streaking and ghosting during DVD playback on some Acer computer monitors such as the AL1931. (A "ghost" is an identical offset image as the primary or desired image.) Unstable or unclear image issues may be caused by incorrectly programmed VGA timings or incorrectly installed monitor drivers. b> Dead Pixels b> Dead pixels and sub-pixels can cause a variety of display enjoyment problems. Acer will only accept returns on LCD computer monitors that have "more than four (4) defective pixels per million pixels." Further, the central area of the monitor may have no more than one defective pixel. Acer does not differentiate in warranty terms between pixels and sub-pixels. Hope this helps.

Your monitor is set to 4:3 resolution but physically is 16:9 wide. Change your resolution to a wide setting of 1280x800.

Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

Blank white screen in my Acer Travelmate 5730 Laptop

Hello Karthik,
This must surely be a problem with your monitor, because you say that you see the white screen while boot up. If this is a graphic driver issue, you may have the problem after booting up in windows. Since its been only a month old laptop, the product must be in warranty for sure. Take away any CDs in the drive, any USB drives and see if this white screen appears. Let us know.

Thank you!

Laptop screen

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand I would venture that your concern could possible be a backlight assuming your have a 17 inch monitor with 2 CCF lamps or the LCD display screen interface. Initially, if at all possible take a snapshot of the display with the half blank. The picture would have to be 150kb max though.

Pls post back as requested. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

there is a connection problem with the screen or a graphics chip fault, being as it's only 6 months old, do not void the warranty by trying to remove anything, return to your original selling retailer

Cracked screen replacment

Absolutely, it will work fine as long as it's out of the same model. I recommend Ebay, and use Ebay for most of the replacement parts for machines that come through my shop. I beleive on these any screen from the 5000 series will work as long as it has the same deminsoins, ie..15.4 inch, 14 inch wide screen, etc...
