Check the communication cable are inserted or not, you can see it to open the cpu cover and look for the same, there are two cables are inserted in dvd/cd rom first for the power and second for data. if you find all the things are ok you can check it from your BIOS settings.

DVD-RAW Drive reads most DVDs But not reading this DVD

Visually inspect the bottom of the disc. Look for any medium to large scratches or pits. Try reading the DVD on a few different computers. If the DVD does not work on even some of the other computers, try taking the DVD to a used game store (GameStop/EB Games, for example) and ask them if they can restore the disc for you. They will probably charge you. If you are looking for a free method of cleaning up a disc, try taking glass cleaner (Windex, etc) and a paper towel to the bottom of the disc. Wipe the disc from inside out, not around in a circle. If all else fails, replace the disc.

Why my [sony cd rw dvd rom] will not detect a blank dvd disk

If you have the sony CD RW DVD ROM then you can't burn the data in a blank DVD.

Because your Configuration is :
Read : CD / DVD
Write : CD

This means you have a combo drive. But to burn a DVD you should have DVD RW.

Sony CRX300E CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo - DVD doesn't read

Hi,
do you have software/program that supports DVD.
Try a different DVD/Movie/Disk or alternative.
Also install a program, such as Nero which will give you physical characteristics of the drive.
Finally go to device manager, and remove or uninstall the device, reboot the computer and setup again. This can sometimes remedy the problem.
ensure that the drive is set as Master/Slave. if on the same Bus/IDE channel as a hard-drive. set as master/slave opposite to what the hard-drive is setup as.
Hope this helps.
