Question about Printers & Copiers

Lexmark x4580 connected via USB will allow printing once when computer started after that comuunication problem error received every time. I have checked all firewall settings on Mcaffee and Windows (all clear with permissions open) Help it driving me up the wall

1) Disable both firewalls and see if it prints.
2) If it prints, then it's a firewall roblem. Enable your Windows firewall first. If your printer works just leave the McAfee firewall disabled. You don't need both anyway but leave the ant-virus enabled.
3) If it doesn't print with your Windows firewall enabled, try it the other way. Windows firewall disabled, McAfee enabled.
4) If it doesn't print in any of these cases try re-installing the software for your printer.You will want to make sure that McAfee is totally disabled (anti-virus and firewall) and turn off off your Windows firewall. Here are the steps for re-installing software. If you don't have the cd let me know and I'll provide you with a link for it.
Removing and reinstalling the software
If the printer is not functioning properly, or if a communications error message appears when you try to use the
printer, you may need to remove and reinstall the printer software.

1 Click Start �� Programs or All Programs �� Lexmark 3500-4500 Series.
2 Select Uninstall.
3 Follow the instructions on the computer screen to remove the printer software.
4 Restart the computer before reinstalling the printer software.
5 Click Cancel on all New Hardware Found screens.
6 Insert the CD, and then follow the instructions on the computer screen to reinstall the software.
Note: If the install screen does not appear automatically after you restart your computer, click Start �� Run, and
then type D:\setup, where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.

Printer keeps saying busy printing another document


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

If printer is wireless, simply power cycle the printer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

Lexmark x4580 wont print....ive downloaded the drivers and connected it to my wireless but keeps saying error status whilst tryin to print help

delete the printer entry from here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\Printer Name

and here

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-2\Printer Name

now install the driver software and try it.

My Printer Lexmark X4580 will not scan. I get the following message-Cannot retrieve Application List. Printing and copying works fine.

Reboot your computer. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Try to scan again.
If that doesn't help, try to reinstall the printer software on your computer. This will help repair any corrupted files necessary for scanning or printing.

How to fix message error 900.00 service RIP software on Lexmark c 530 dn


Does the error pop up when the printer is booting up, receiving information via network, connected via usb, or connected via parallel cable? It could be two problem. If it would post during printing, then it could be cause by a software or network problem. Test the printer in a standalone mode without any usb or network connection, if the error would post upon power up and without any network connection or usb connection then its a hardware problem. If it's a hardware problem, it would require a service call.

When you want to print, the Print window appears showing your printer, there is a box where you can select the number de copies.

Can't print from MacBook, through Time Capsule, to Lexmark x5470


turn on the printer sharing via the system preference panel on the computer that is on the system via usb.
Then on your wifi computer look for shared printers and you'll see your printer in the list under the host computer name... use that setting and it should fire up for you!

try this. Some of the terminology may vary as I had the solution in german. It came from Lexmark. 
Open

http://localhost:631



-     click add printer
-   enter a name for the printer eg Lexmark or troublemaker ;-)
-     click continue
-    from the list chose 'LPD/LPR Hostprinter' and click continue
-     in tne next window enter lexnet3://IP (of the printer):1
-     click continue
-     chose Lexmark and click continue
-     chose your printer type
-     click add printer


This worked for me after reinstalling the printer via cd software.
Otherwise try the usb cable, you then have to go to printer preferences and change the usb printer to standard.
Strangely enough my printer used to work fine via W-Lan, suddenly I received that error. Perhaps du to an update to 10.5.6? I don't know. Hope thet helps, best regards Peter

Lexmark X4580 cannot scan, as although it recognises my PC and when I press the tick it states "downloading application list it thinks for ages and then states "unable to retrieve application...


This appears to be a known error on this model of Lexmark including all the 3500-4500 ranges... there are a couple of download patches on the Lexmark customer support site at lexmark.co.uk, I simply followed the instructions and the first patch worked fine......

"Off-line" error message


Go to control panel - printers. Right click your printer icon - select delete printer. Reinstall the software and drivers via CD supplied. May have to restart your computer when complete. Go back to control panel - select printers - select add a printer and follow the instructions. When finished print a test page.
