If you press & hold SHIFT & THEN Press F1 this will copy the desktop to the clipboard, and then you open Paint, and paste it in, works great.
Hope this helps, I think that's how it works if a printer is attached, perhaps without a printer it reverts to the desktop?

Welcome to FixYa!

To use the printscreen function of your laptop do the following:

1. Press the "Printscreen" key (or "Fn" key and "Printscreen" key if it is written in color blue).
2. Open MS-Paint (Click start, programs, accessories, paint)
3. Press "ctrl" and letter "v" to paste the captured screen.
4. You can save the captured screen as an image (jpg, gif, bmp) or you can print it.

How do i use the prt scr button

Whatever happened to the Print Screen key??
If you did computers back in the 80's (DOS days) you probably remember using the Print Screen key on your keyboard to print a copy of whatever was on the monitor screen at that time to your printer. It wasn't used that much because back in those days it took forever for a dot matrix printer to print out the entire monitor screen. However, it came in handy once and awhile.
Microsoft has turned the key into into a "Snapshot key" which, as that term implies, takes a snapshot of the monitor screen.
After taking the snapshot, in XP simply click on Start, All Programs, Accessories and Paint. Then click on Edit followed by Paste and Voila! There's your screen snapshot in living color staring you in the face!
Now you can use "Save As" and save it with a .jpg/tif extension (etc.) and/or send it to your printer using File, Print.
If your keyboard Print Screen key performs more than one function you will have to experiment a little to get it the key to perform the Print Screen Function. Try holding down the ALT, SHIFT, or CTRL key (or any "special" keys unique to your keyboard) when you hit the Print Screen key in order to get the key to perform its Print Screen function.

Authorware Printscreen doesnt print actual document fullsize

Try printing document thru your printer rather than Printscreen feature. Or Printscreen feature copies to clip board which you should be able to open and paste to new document then use your printer set up to adjust. Make sure your printer set up is set to scale to fit page.

Printscreen will not print

In the old DOS days, Print Screen would send a copy of the screen to the printer.

In Windows, Print Screen sends a copy to the Clip Board.
So, what you need to do is open an application like WordPad, MS Word, Paint or some other program and Paste to a new file. Then you can print the image from that file.

A side note: The PrintScreen key captures the whole screen, the ALT-PrintScreen key combination captures only the active window.
