Sounds like a bad ignition switch if it starts by itself.

Starter problems with my 91 chevy cavlier

There are shims that go between the starter and the block. If it grinds because it is too tight in the flywheel you need to add a shim.

I have a 91 4runner 6cyclinder manual,when I go to start it I hear a click under the glove box

The click you heard may have been the starter relay. If it was, it is probably bad. See if a new one helps. If not, then the wiring in the start circuit will have to be investigated.

Nissan Altima 2000 Manual. Recently had remote starter installed and was working fine for a few days. This morning I remote started the vehicle and when I came out car was off. Try starting the car up...

the remote starter is not going to damage the starter, but if wired wrong it could damage the wiring or fuses, or run the battery down from a short.

Remote starter doesn't function

if the battery was replaced or any terminals removed, you may have lost the tach programming for the remote starter. Goto and look for the remote start unit you have in the manuals and it will tell ya how to reprogram the tach memory.

Car won't start

hi this does sound like the starter normally if you hear a click that means the relay is ok as it is sending power to the starter motor, so its more than likely to be the starter solenoid, you can try this test...get a long bar or a small hammer, locate the starter, while someone is in the vehicle turning the key ( as to start it ) tap the starter with the bar or hammer, it should start, if not then the starter is u/s and will need replacing, if it starts, turn engine off, and try turning over without hitting the starter, if it starts it will more than likely be the solenoid sticking, give it a few trie's it might free itself and work, but if it starts to play up again change the starter..hope this helps..NOTE!!! when doing this, make sure you are well away from any moving parts all clothing should be clear to , if it does start you do not want to be caught up in anything...

Wont start

try tapping the starter with a nice sturdy wrench or hammer but do not hit it hard. I have had that trouble before and all i did was tap the starter and it started up fine. Your starter may be going bad if that is the problem. If that is the problem , simply take it in and have it tested to see whether the armiture is not ingaging or if the celinoid has gone bad. you can raplace both or just buy a new starter. hope this helps.
