Dishwasher water keeps running and leaking

On our Maytag dishwasher I replaced a valve for the water supply that a local supply store told me was the problem. When it runs, it keeps coming out the seal and after it has stopped. When you open the door, the bottom is full of water. The model #MDBH970AWS and the ser. # 23039888EP. Thank you

    Thank you Rylee. I will try this. How do I tell if the water supply valve is bad or if the float pressure switch is bad?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the dishwasher is overfilling its water-inlet valve issue, dont know if that is the same valve that you have replaced. This valve is usually at the bottom left or right of the dishwasher, behind the lower access panel. It's the device with the main water line from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it. If that valve appears to be fine then it is the float/pressure switch that has gone bad and should be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Hi, I have a Maytag Mdb8959sas dishwasher that was leaking during a normal wash cycle. I pulled the dishwasher out from under the counter and saw that it appears to be leaking directly below the point...

I will assume that you have cleaned gasket around door and at washer. Quite often a build up of scale at lower gasket surfaces is all that is causing leak.

I HAVE A MAYTAG DISHWASHER MODEL- MDB5000AWA. IT PUT OUT WATER BUT SPINNER INSIDE DOES NOT SPIN.

Hello,

Their is a couple possibilities

1) the water level in the tub is insufficent. It should be level or just above the heat element. If not at that the level as long as water pressure to the dishwasher is good the water inlet valve that the water supply connects to is bad

2) the filter inside of the pump is clogged and water is having a hard time getting into the pump to circulate. This link http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/M0203021-00006.png shows where the filter is (item#6) to get to it unscrew the tube on the top of lower wash arm(not shown is the drawing) remove item#2&36 then item #4 to get to the filter

if water valve needs replacing its part#99001359 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;
repairclinic.com

Good luck,i hope this helps,

Water is coming from the bottom

Take off the panel at the bottem of dishwasher and find leak. If leaking from water supply connection try to tighten it first. If that does not work turn off water under sink and replace warter supply line. You can get a easy to handle braded line at you local hardware store. Replace other leaking parts at www.repairclinic.com.

Water leaks out on the floor from the front left of the machine, not every time though. what's the most likely place to check? intake hose? drain hose? door edge?

Hello there:
If your dishwasher leaks, check these: Main tub seal Note... If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you. But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the entire pump and motor assembly. Lower rack Spray arm Spray arm support
Wash/drain impellers Then pry the seal out of its housing and replace it. Door gasket or seal Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak. Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten or repair/replace these as necessary. The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher, and replace the valve. Hoses Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.

Leaking water from the ice maker

It is very unlikely that you have a leaking water line inside the fridge/freezer, as they are protected from damage. If you have water dripping from the ice maker inside the freezer and/or the dispenser in the door, the most likely problem is the valve that supplies water to the ice maker.

You'll need to replace the water inlet valve that supplies water to the ice maker. This is not the same valve that supplies water to the fridge (I believe the yellow colored valve) but rather, it is the blue valve, mounted just above the main water inlet valve.

At the bottom back right side of the fridge, you can remove the covering and see both the yellow and blue valves. The yellow one (on the bottom) is the incoming water control valve, while the blue (upper one) supplies water to the ice maker.

The part runs about $45-50 if you get it yourself, or around $185.00 for a repair person to come out and do the job for you. It should only take about 20-30 minutes to do it yourself with a small 1/4" nutdriver. Part available from Searspartsdirect.com or several other online and local stores. Just call around and give them your fridge model number and serial number, located on the inside of the fresh food section of the fridge - on the "ceiling" just inside the door.

Hope that helps.

Brand new dishwasher installed and water leaks out bottom of door

If your dishwasher leaks, check these:

Main tub seal
Door gasket or seal
Water-inlet valve
Hoses
Main tub seal Note…If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath thecenter bottom of the dishwasher, the following instructions probablyapply to you. But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn'tserviceable--you need to replace the entire pump and motor assembly.

Themain tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water inthe dishwasher from leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get tothe seal, which is inside the dishwasher, remove the:

  • Lower rack

  • Spray arm

  • Spray arm support

  • Wash/drain impellers

Then pry the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal Overtime, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to sealproperly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them ifthey've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve Thewater-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply linefrom the house and the rubber tube leading from the valve to the insideof the dishwasher may leak. Tighten or repair/replace these asnecessary.

The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open.When that happens, the water continues to flow into the dishwasher,which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to thedishwasher, and replace the valve.

Hoses Behindthe lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastichoses. If the leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If thatdoesn't work, replace the hose.

Leaking dishwasher

hi there,
dishwasher leaking might be due to either of these causes, check these:

Main tub seal
Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom

But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the

remove the:

* Lower rack
*Spray arm
* Spray arm support
* Wash/drain impellers

Then try the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal
Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly.
You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve
The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the
