Sounds like your feed dogs are in the down position. Make sure they are in position "A" (see picture)

How do you raise the feed dogs on a Singer touch and Sew Model 700 (zigzag, straight) machine? I don't see the instructions in the manual on how to raise the teeth or the feeder.

The feed on my Singer 538 will not pull my fabric thru. Help appreciated.

Without fabric in your machine and with the presser foot raised, do the feed dogs move front->back? Are the feed dogs in the raised position? Is the stitch length at a 10-12 stitch per inch setting so that the fabric actually moves (try increasing the stitch length to see if it makes a difference)?

Does your machine have a presser foot pressure adjustment? If you are sewing light weight fabric, the pressure may need to increased so there is more pressure applied by the presser foot to the feed dogs. You can also try adding a strip of tear-away or wash-away stabilizer to the underside of the fabric as you stitch so the feed dogs have something to grip.

Are the tips of the feed dogs rounded? Could be worn and need replacement.

If the feed dogs are not moving, how long has it been since the machine was cleaned and oiled?

It was working now it seems to be frozen the needle part wont move

If the feed dogs remain below the needle plate, and the feed dog lever does not activate them, then perhaps something is disconnected in the feed dog mechanism. The feed dogs should rise when stitching begins.

Why do i find that when free sewing the cloth will not move freely?

If you are talking about being able to move the fabric freely with your hand, you need to drop the feed dogs and install a darning foot. The darning foot is just a smidgen shorter than the standard presser foot so it does not rest on the feed dogs or the needleplate. The extra space allows you to manipulate the fabric without feed dogs.

My Singer 9420 is not advancing the fabric. The feed dogs move without fabric?

Are you sure the feed dogs have not been accidently lowered? They will still move when lowered but not feed the fabric.

When I put the presser foot down and begin to stitch, the needle just keeps sewing in the same place, and the presser foot won't allow me to easily move the fabric.

You might want to see if the drop feed control is down. There's a switch (for my Singer machine, you have to take off the removable sewing table/storage, and the switch is behind the machine)...if the drop feed is down, you can't see the "teeth" as I call them which grips the fabric.

Another idea is to back stitch (reverse sewing lever) a couple stitches and then try sewing.

Make sure the foot speed control is hooked up correctly. https://wiki.artisansasylum.com/images/0/0f/Sewing_Machine_--_Singer_3116_--_Manual.pdf This is the manual for your sewing machine model you posted. Good luck.

What's your problem?singer simple feeder teeth

While attempting to engage the feed dogs with the switch, wiggle the hand while a little back and forth. Sometimes that motion will help it slide back into sewing mode.

Hi! I have a singer simple 3116 sewing machine

It is the top threading that is giving you the problem not the bobbin thread. Try this, totally rethread, the machine. A new needle will not hurt either. Now with the presser foot up, pull on the top thread, it should feed smoothly, now lower the presser foot, pull the thread again, it should barely move. This usually will seat the thread in the tension discs.
Good luck and Merry Christmas

I have a singer 3343c machine, when sewing the fabric foot does not move, the fabric while the machine is sewing.

the presser foot only holds the fabric against the feed dogs in the needle plate area

check the feed dogs to see if there in the up position

if not there should be a nob in the feed dog area to move them up & down

on some models when you remove the extension table the nob is at the back

I have a singer model #2932 It will not advance the fabric, just keeps sewing in the same place

I've been sewing since I was six (with mom's help), but all sewing machines are basically the same. The feed dog, which is what advances the fabric is most likely not moving. If you look at the area just under the presser foot & needle you'll see little "teeth". This is the feed dog. Take the thread out of the needle and run the machine without any fabric. Watch those teeth. They should rise & lower into the base. If they don't move when the foot pedal is pressed, then that is your problem and you'll need to take it to a repair shop. Good luck.

Call Singer at 1-800-4singer and ask Singer's excellent customer service. They can steer you right. One, thing you can try is unthreading your machine completely and rethreading top and bobbin. Check your needle, change if you have had it there for a few projects. Make sure your feed dogs are up and that your stitch length is not set at zero. At least you will have tried all of the easy stuff when you call them. Let me know how you make out, I hope it is really not serious, Good luck

Are the feed dogs lowered? That's the only thing I can think of, unless it needs a drop of oil. I would go online to singer.com and try too get a better answer.
