A this point I think it is the capacitor. If I siphon out the water, the cycle to fill water works, but still makes buzzing sound when it hits any cycle that deals with the motor.

Here is more background info. Sorry I did not put this earlier. Coupler went bad to begin with. Replaced coupler and machine was working. During taking the clothes out and water the first time, there was some water that ran down the side of the cylinder when the cover was off and I think some got into the capacitor, but I'm not sure. It went through a couple of loads and then quit with the buzzing sound. The last load smelled electrical burning smell. Took the cover of tonight and examined the capacitor. Looks like it was moist around the top opening and noticed some melted plastic goo coming out of the top piece. This would make since why none of the motor cycles work and just make a buzzing sound.

Spinning cycle

Keeping in mind that the soap & bleach gets dispensed into your wash on the second to last rinse cycle and that most all rinse cycles are in cold water. Is your cold water valve screen plugged causing your washer to rinse poorly? Are you using the HE detergent? If not maybe the washer is sudsing up to much and having a hard time rinsing all the suds and bleach out and leaving the clothes soapy.

Fill the washer up with no clothes in it on a cold/cold wash setting does it take a long time to fill the washer up? Also when it is full and agitating is there suds in the washer?

Last suggestion is if the drain is hose is a lot higher than the top of the washer it might have a hard time draining out all of the soap water before the next load

I have a Kenmore top loading washer model #110 and won't agitate

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.23912100

Also see the Whirlpool (Kenmore) Service Manual for top load, direct drive washers.

The first thing I'd try is using a different cycle. If the washer works as it should, the problem points to the timer.

I'd also check to make sure that when replacing the switch, the connections to the timer haven't come loose.

Since you've replaced the Lid Switch, the motor has power for the drain and spin cycles.

These washers use a reversing motor. The motor turns one way for agitating and reverses for the drain and spin.

Since you cannot hear anything when it is supposed to be agitating, the problem does point to the timer or motor.

Washer will not spin

I fixed it yesterday. After checking the continuity of my lid switch and pressure switch and finding them ok I removed the tubing from the pressure switch and applied air (blew into it). There was a clog and blowing on it removed it for now. Apparently the pressure switch was telling the machine that the tub was full of water and wouldn't let it start the spin cycle. I ran three loads last night and it worked perfect. I may have to remove the connection on the side of the tub and clean it properly if it clogs again.

Washer doesn't agitate

sounds like your washer went mellow on you(doesn't get agitated, right)?

ok. enough humor.

sounds like there's a problem with the motor/belt/control board in that order
