Question about RCA DRC230N DVD Player

1 Answer

Picture but no sound on DVD -R

I made 2 different DVD-R's for a friend who has a DR C230N. One was burnt with my regular PC burner while the 2nd was done on a duplicator from a master done from the same burner. The disk burnt with the PC burner plays fine however the duplicator disk has picture but no sound. I tested it on 2 other players and another computer and it works fine on them. Gave him a replacement copy of the program (which was also through the duplicator) and it has the same problem.

My work around will be to burn him a copy direct from the PC and hope that does it.

Any ideas on why picture but no sound on only 1 player?

Hi,

Try using another brand of DVDR (cheap ones tends to cause porblems in regular DVD players) and burn at a slower speed.

Sounds like you made a data disk with MP3s and not an audio cd.

To play on a "regular" CD player, you should burn an audio cd.

Different burning programs have different options for this.

I want to install a 2nd dvd burner. But I don't know how to hook it up. My new pc does not have the ribbons like my old one does.

If your 2nd DVD burner is on IDE interface, you may need to get an IDE to SATA cable. Please refer to the picture below as to how it looks like:

It may not be compatible with a dual layer disk, just the regular dvd-r or dvd-rw disks.

No sound

First things first my friend:

you sad it, you try to put a lamborgini engine on a volky of 1970! so you have to move for a new PC, since new DVD burners and DVD ROM, use more advance internal features, speed, IDE enhancesments.
OR you can refortmat your OS and install the new device, check your BIOS for LBA changes, and 32 bit acces modes. (it help)

DVD disk

check to see what format your computer burns on.[ex:dvd-r, dvd-rw,dvd-+r,dvd-+rw]different dvd players play certain dvd formats.the format for burning on your computer is probably different from the dvd players that aren't playing the disc.you also must finalize the burned disc.
good luck
