Question about Samsung SyncMaster 2233SW Monitor

Goes to black after one second

Image appears at power on then goes to black after about one second

Actually, this Samsung 2233SW has been tried now on three different PC's with the result the same on each. In fact, on this XP SP3 PC I even did a fresh driver download and install to assure it has the most recent. Still same thing. Each time the monitor gets a "new" signal, such as the laptop function change to turn on/off the video to the VGA port, the monitor lights up with the correct screen but then immediately goes out. Again, three different computers, same symptom on each.

Lcjj, Is unit black and blank screen? or just black screen? do flashlight test after pc boots-up. Can you see images and icons on desktop screen with aid of flashlight?? How old is the unit? Is unit out of warranty? Have you been to YOUTUBE to check-out DIY video clips on troubleshooting and the low cost DIY repairs being done to CCFL back-lit lcd monitors? Your monitor's problem not new one!! Try some of these web sites: www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and www.lcdrepair.us/files/dell_1800fp_power_supply_installation_instructions.pdf and www.badcaps.net and www.lcdparts.net and www.ccfldirect.com and after you finish with that you can start reading the fixya PROFILES of "buddymc" , "budmrtn" , "12fixlouie" In short... you will do one of these four things. 1. DIY refurbishment. 2. Contract out refurbishment work. 3. Trade in unit for new. 4. Do a cash+old swap out with Samsung if they are doing a "just out of warranty" swap for "premature failed" units. Do your test and research first. Then make decision on what to do. Good luck. 12fixlouie

What is the model number? Yes lamps do go bad (blackened ends) or bad soldering works on the lamps. See my lamps album. You need lamp tester and inverter tester to verify.

Hello,

I believe the power led button is still on while the screen goes black, if yes, it means the picture board of your monitor is bad that is why it appears for a second and goes black after that

Since the power led button is on, It means the picture board on your monitor is faulty that is why it appears for a second and goes black.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer or any service center within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself in other to complicate issues.

Take care.

My acer al1916w displays the image for 3 seconds then goes black

Sounds like your video card. Check to make sure it's connected properly. If so, check to make sure it's properly seated to *********** board. The possible issue could be the card is connected enough to display the picture, but not enough to communicate with the monitor to stay on because it has an active feed. Best of luck fixing it

Image displayed for 2 seconds after powering monitor on

The problem could be the CCFL lamp, especially if the image has a pink hue.

Monitor image comes up, then blacks out, power still on

Hello David,

This is very common problem and is heat/age related, but It can happen to monitors that are no more than a year old. It is usually bad capacitors on on power inverter board. I just fixed two monitors with this problem. This problem is common across all brands. Look for several radial capacitors in a cluster on the power inverter board. If some are bulging or have a slightly domed top, they are the ones that are bad. I usually replace all the capacitors in this small cluster because some may be marginal. This is easy to do if you have a bit of electronics skill.

You need to call for service now that the unit still turns on,the problem will become expensive if you try to use it like this, right now the set might have loose conections in the power supply, horizontal driver transformer.ETC.Be safe and call a service tech.
