Gateway GT5220 bios works no boot up

Gateway GT5220 bios works. If you enter the bios everything seems ok. However after exiting bios or just do.ng a normal boot the screen goes black. I dont believe the computer boots either . The power light is on and the fans are turning. I think it may be the video card(built into the MB.

Thanks for such a fast reply. There are no error messages (that I can see). I get the single beep after the self tests just like it is going to load normal. I'll try all the things you said. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again,

If the issue was the video card then there would be no display. If there was any display it would be discolored.

Try unplugging any removable media that's hooked up to the computer. After that try to boot it up.

If it still doesn't go anywhere then you most likely have a power supply issue on your hands. try unplugging an unnecessary components inside the computer such as any CD/DVD drives and removing any cards installed. Pretty much everything but the motherboard and the hard drive. If it still doesnt boot properly then you might either have to buy a new power supply or a new motherboard as long as you know your hard drive is good.

The thing si if it was an issue with the hard drive you would get an error message. If you seemed to have left out any error messages please post them.

My gateway 2118u netbook will not boot or turn off the screen says: For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.0.9(05/08/09) Check cable connection! PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable...

Can you access your BIOS when you turn on the computer?

Somewhere in the BIOS you may have inadvertently changed the netbook to boot from the "Network via PXE" instead of from your local hard drive.

To enter the BIOS, you must restart the PC and enter BIOS setup or BIOS features by pressing Delete or another hardware specific key on BIOS screen startup.

From there, you should encounter a series of menus that you can navigate only with the keyboard... not the mouse. With luck, you will find a boot menu option that you can correct.

Make sure you save your choices on exiting and restart your PC. With a little bit of trial and error, you should be able to coax your netbook to boot from its internal driver.

Two things are a possiblity

Or
2. The cable is unplugged (I'm sure you've checked) but hey it's a possiblity

No video, shows orange light on front which gateway says video

it sounds like your hardware is not compatable with the update. if you can restart the computer and press f12 to boot to safe mode you should be able to open the device manager from Run: by typing devmgmt.msc, find the video adapter under 'display adapters', double click your adapter to bring up the properties window, click the 'driver' tab and click roll back driver
hope this helps. please rate me and thanks for choosing enterprise computing solutions...

Solution: Disable USB Emulation (legacy support) in the computer BIOS

Turning off USB Emulation (legacy support) in the computer's BIOS
The following steps are for Dell computers. If this issue is occurring on another brand computer, the process of entering the computer's BIOS may be different. Additionally, the steps to make changes may differ as well. Refer to the computer's documentation to verify the appropriate steps to disable USB Emulation.
For Dell computers, perform the following steps:
While rebooting the computer, press the <F2> key to enter the System Setup (BIOS).

Press the Down Arrow <?!> key repeatedly until 'Integrated Devices' is highlighted.

Press <Enter> and another window appears.

Press the Down Arrow <?!> key repeatedly until 'USB Emulation' is highlighted.

Press the Plus <+> key to change the value to 'OFF'.

Press the <Esc> key to exit this window.

Press the <Esc> key again to exit the System Setup (BIOS).

When the message "Do You Want to Save Changes And Exit" appears, press the <Enter> key indicating Yes to save changes. The system will reboot.
