Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

Open Question

GE Spectra XL 44 oven takes too long to heat up

This problem just started. Yesterday it took over an hour to get up to temperature and today it got up to 157 and stayed there for 15 minutes until I got frustrated and shut it off. The broiler works perfectly.

I just put it on "clean" to see if maybe there was a clog that needed to be burned out. The bottom flames were clearly visible when I pressed "start", however I can't see any flames on the bottom now; just the top.

Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem is?

If you can smell the gas when you turn on the oven, it may be on a separate igniter that has gone bad. I would check this first. If you are not getting gas to the oven, there is possibly an issue with the supply line.

SOURCE: GE Spectra XL 44 Gas Oven Bottom Heating Element Faulty

First look to see if the ignitor is coming on. Most common problem is the ignitor is weak or just bad. When the power is applied to the ignitor it glows and builds up resistance to open the gas valve then it lights. If the ignitor is weak or bad it will not build up enough resistance for gas to come into the burner. One sign of this would be a "woosh" sound when it trys to light. If the ignitor is coming on but not lighting it is most likely the ignitor is bad. Should have a full glow. Also, if the ignitor looks whiteish in color this is a sign of it going bad. You can compare to the broil ignitor to be sure. If the ignitor doesn't come on at all will need to see if you have power to the ignitor. Let me know what you find and let's solve it before you rate the solution.

GE XL 44 oven will not come up to temperature. Oven lights but will not heat beyond 250 degrees.

Hello,

The most probable reason the oven isnt heating very well is because of a weak igniter, since that igniter is weak its having a hard time fully opening the gas valve so the flame is very small and thusly not producing much heat,by replacing the igniter the gas will flow properly and heat to a high tempature.

My gas oven will not heat up above 300 degrees and

You may have 2 problems.
One. The temperature sensor could be bad. You can remove the temperature sensor and check it with a ohm meter. It should read 1050 to 1150 ohms. If not. It is bad.
Two. The glowbar ignitor could be bad and not igniting the gas safety valve.Open the bottom drawer of the oven and set the oven to bake. The burner should light in 60 seconds or less. Re-light should be about 30 seconds or less.
If it takes longer the ignitor is bad.

GE Spectra XL 44 gas kitchen range. Oven does not work

Sounds like the switch module is defective.  You might get lucky if you power down the stove for half an hour and then reapply power.   Sometimes they reset.  If you, enjoy.  If not, you will need that module.
