You could have several problems but the first thing to do would be to check the door switch. Most of the time you can use a small screwdriver to push the switch in and out. you should hear a click when you do this if the switch is good. you can also use an ohm meter to check the switch if you know how to use one.

another culprit is the thermal fuse located on the back of the machine. you must remove the rear panel. it is usually a small white object with 2 wires attached to it. if for any reason the machine over heats this thermal fuse will shut the dryer down. it is not resetable and must be replaced if no continuity flows through it. if it is bad usually something caused it such as a stopped up vent , crimped hose or possibly a thermostatDryer will not turn on at all. we already checked - 2_bing.gif failure. check these items and clean out the lint on the outside of your house vent as well. don't use plastic vent hose and don't try to push the dryer up too close to the wall causing the vent to partially collapse.

No power to the display, dryer will not turn on

First thing you need to do is check the Circuit Breaker for the dryer. If it is tripped unplug the dryer and reset the Circuit Breaker. Now plug in the dryer and try to run it. If it does not work again check the Circuit Breaker again if it is tripped again unplug dryer and call someone that can help you or fix it. If the Circuit Breaker is not tripped check for good power readings on both power lines coming into the dryer. Should have 110V or more on each line to neutral, and 220V or more between each line. If you do not have the correct voltage at each line check Circuit Breaker for good power coming out.

Check voltage at dryer plugin. If no voltage go to breaker panel and reset breaker by making sure you move breaker switch fully to the off position and then you will feel tension as you turn breaker back on.If it kicks back off you will need to turn off main breaker and open dryer outlet and probably clean it out.

Power Button will not turn on.

Verify proper line voltage is present at the outlet. This will require the use of a voltage meter. If not properly trained, I would consult an electrician to verify the voltage.
Part of the troubleshooting proceedure requires the technician to verify that the applience is receiving the required supply power.
This has to be verified at the outlet to eliminate the possibility of a bad breaker or bad connection inside the breaker panel or outlet box.
Hope this helps in finding the solution to your problem..
Thanks and good luck..

My maytag electric dryer has worked perfectly fine for 10 years. today i unplugged the dryer and did some work on the wall. when i plugged the dryer back in it tripped the breaker. could it be the dryer or...

You already unpluged before the wall work, so the problem is isolated from the dryer from its plug. Take off the wall socket to inspect since it may have damaged. If you have the voltmeter, measure each pair of the terminal. they should have a voltage at least 110V since it is three-phase voltage. If there is no voltage then just replace the socket. Make sure to turn main power off when you do the replacement.

My Amana dryer won't turn on. It's plugged in but

First, check the circuit breaker at the circuit box and make sure the dryer breaker isn't tripped. If you have a voltage tester or access to one and know how to use it, unplug the dryer and test the voltage at the wall plug-in, This will tell you if you have good power to the dryer and indeed if the problem is with the dryer itself. These steps are usually overlooked by most homeowners and can save you a service call.

Good luck!!

Dryer has 110V only.Light burns when door is opened.Controle panel does not switch on at all. Each leg where power cord is attached has 110V.I have replaced Thermal Cut-off & High Limit...

Your problem is not in the dryer. 220V circuits can be confusing in that the 110 leg can feed back and in reality you are getting the same 110V reading on both legs. Check across the two legs and see if you get 220V if not then you have confirmed what I suspect. Your problem is probably with you circuit breaker in the electric panel. Try switching the breaker off and forcefully turning it back on, You also can take off the panel cover and check to see if you have 220V across the two poles of the circuit breaker. You may have to replace the circuit breaker, it is not uncommon for one leg of a breaker ot go out especially when used on a dryer that pulls high amp. resistance loads.

I have a Kenmore Elite HE3 dryer model # 110.8483220. It has no power. We tested the plug and it tests for 110V of power, and the wire connection at the top of the dryer (on the outside) has power. But...

Your dryer is electric. This means it needs 2 electrical phases (hot wires) and one neutral to wor. If you measure 110v across 2 phases - one of them is out.
Unplug the dryer. Find the double breaker for your dryer on the breaker panel.
Pull breaker to the off position hard (do not overdo it,as you can pull the breaker out), and then back to on position.
Check voltage between the two phases, it should read 220-240v. Check the voltage between each phase and the neutral (middle prong), should read 110-120v. If you don't get these readings - call electrician.
If you get the proper voltage, plug the dryer back in. If it does not work - Dryer needs repair. Likely a thermal fuse is blown or problem with power wiring inside.

My mayatag model mde2400ayw wont turn back on

Assuming that the ohmmeter that you are using also reads voltage, Check for ~220 volts AC at the two slanted slots in the dryer socket. If zero or near to it, the breakers are tripped in the house electrical panel. Push them off, then on. If you now read the proper voltage, plug the dryer back in, then remove the plug again and recheck the voltage--if still ok, plug it in again and try to run the dryer. If ok, see if it maintains performance over time. Make sure that you have good air flow through the machine--check the flex hose and outside vent for lint. Remove the lint filter and wash it in hot water and detergent.
If you read 220 volts at the beginning of this missive, then the problem is within the machine itself. A respondent said there is a circuit breaker or fuse located in a pocket on the back panel--is this the case here? Attempt to reset the breaker or check the fuse. If no result, then now is the time for the ohmmeter to come into play. Remove power from the machine and start looking at switches, circuit breakers, and thermostats for continuity. It would be more effective looking for voltage at different points, but more dangerous due to the high voltage. I assume that you have a 'ladder' diagram of the wiring in the book you mentioned. If you understand the diagram, finding the problem is fairly easy. In general, switches of various kinds in the top section must operate before things toward the bottom will work.
