Question about LG 42LC2D 42 in. LCD HDTV
I have an LG flat screen projection TV that is a few years old. Everything on it worked fine, except the screen went out a few weeks ago. At first it would go dark, and shutting it off and waiting would help. But as time went on, the screen would black out longer and stay blacked out, until it got to the point where it stayed blacked out. It is not totally black, it is just not a picture, it's blank with a static-like picture, only it's still static (if that makes sense). The sound still works, it still turns on and off, just a problem with the picture. Any ideas?
Hello, if the model number is correct it's not a projection tv, but an LCD tv. If that's correct, it sounds like a bad main board issue part # is AGF31218501...thanks

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.

This is almost certainly the device that sends electricity to the the plasma in the panel after failing. Bring to your local repair shop and expect to pay 300-400 parts and 100-200 labour.

SOURCE: lg lcd tv screen goes
This sounds like a mainboard problem. Unless you do not see a back light flash when you turn on the TV, which may mean it is an inverter board problem, this is most likely fixable by replacing the mainboard.

The lights indicate what the issue is. Kind of like your check engine light in your car tells you something is wrong with the engine.
