Lexmark x2580 problems (by 2 users)

I have a lexmark x2580, but i can't get it to install on my vista. i have used the installation disk, but it gets to a part where it says "connect the usb and turn the printer on, this page will change automatically" but even when i do this, the page won't change. the computer can see that it is connected, but i can't complete installation. please help!

sorry, im not very computer minded. The computer sees the printer because i get the 'new hardware' pop-up, but for some reason i can't get past the one screen during installation. ive also tried using the computers automatic installation wizard, but even with the lexmark disk in, it can't find the drivers. its a bit frustrating when you have to run to the library for the internet!
iv changed the usb cable, but it has no effect.

Try Installing the installation disk before you connect or plug in your printer.
