Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Creedvr1, It could be a smps/ccfl inverter supply problem. At least that's the first place I would look into if something "strange" was happening to my ccfl back-lit lcd mnitor. If you don't know how the new style curlie-Q energy efficient, CFL light bulbs operate and the technology of "electronic ballast" circuits, then you should do some basic web research here at fixya and youtube to try and understand your monitor's "black screen" symptom. The very first thing to do is prove that your PC works perfectly with a "known-good" monitor. Whenever you need help with a device such as this 2005fpw, you should always state the "date of manufacture" which should be on the rear cover of monitor. If your unit is over 4-5 years old, you may need to have it refurbished with new CCFL lamps and a new inverter ballast circuit installed. It's that or just go and buy a new 20" unit. Good luck on your quest. 12fixlouie

Dell monitor 2005FPW keeps on flashing

I was having the same problem.
I solved it by replacing the two 47µF capacitors on the power supply/inverter board.
I actually removed all the capacitors (around 13) and all checked out fine except for the two 47µF.
I forgot to take pictures or even write down the capacitor label on the board.
They are located close to the logic board connector

Toshiba laptop when desktop is loading screen flashes and starts over again every 10 seconds

If this happens consistently, there is probably a Blue Screen occurring that is too fast for your eye to see.

Immediately after the Toshiba splash goes away, start pressing F8 until the startup options menu shows. Choose Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should allow you to see the error. then re-post with all details including the error code numbers. Then you can get help for the underlying problem.

CDRom is not present in Vista 32 - Shows driver not working...

Check "Computer" or My Computer and see if the drive is there. If not, reboot the system and go to the System Setup page (hit F2 on the Dell splash screen). Check if the CDROM drive is present under Drive Configuration. If not, reseat the CDROM drive. Remove it from the computer and just put it back in. If you think this is a software issue, backup all your files to a USB flash drive and do an image restore. Hit F8 several times continuously when you see the Dell Splash Screen then select Repair Your Computer. Login on the System Recovery Page. Choose Dell Factory Image Restore. This will bring your computer back to where it started.

Please rate this if this helps.

Flashing on and off

I would suggest trying another monitor to rule out your PC or monitor card. I would also check the video settings on the PC. Then assuming your cable/connector and video card are okay, it sounds like a lamp or lamp driver (a.k.a. ballast or inverter) issue. In other words, an internal issue that probably needs component-level troubleshooting.
