Hi,

This is a common problem on this set.First make sure to hit the menu button on the TV's remote and if nothing is there then friend while the set is on turn a bright flashlight on and shine at angle into the set push the TV menu button if you can see a image then your backlight is not working. You can also check the transformers they are close to were the wires plug into the panel, make sure all transformers read the same amount of resistance if not you have found a bad one. Now you will have to check to see if the power supply is sending 24v to the backlight, if not the power supply is bad. Cost backlights around 150.00 and power supplies around 100.00. Well this should help you friend.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To check what has gone bad you’ll have to open the back of the unit and check the backlight inverter board. The inverter is the power supply source for the backlights. If that’s the issue then it’s always better to replace the inverter board completely just to avoid any future issues. If not then check the power supply board however, it seems to be the inverter board as the sound was still working fine. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Hi Igor,
This is happening due to the lose or bad contacts in the LCD panel. Fixing this kind of troubles is a highly risky and delicate job. If you are not a practising technician, please let some good Technician do it.
Good luck.

I HAVE A VIZIO VO420E ....TV POWERS 0N AND DISPLAY VIDEO AND AUDIO BUT AFTER PLAYING A FEW HOURS THE SCREEN GO BLACK BUT THE AUDIO is still playing

Back-light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

I have a vizio 42 inch model VO420E serial# LUKECAK1409419. when i turn it on i get a black screen but i have audio. it does this in every input. what can i do to fix this problem?

Most likely you have a backlight problem. To verify this, dim the lights in the room. Take a bright flashlight, turn on the set, and shine it on the screen. If you see a faint picture, you have a backlight fault. Your backlight inverter may be built into your power supply board. If this is the case, you will have to replace the inverter/power supply board

What size of mounting bolts do I need for mi visio

You can find your mounting bolt size on the Vizio website by searching for your specific model number. I pulled up an example to show you where you can find the information. This is NOT guaranteed to be your model, so do not buy these screws unless you own this model TV.

http://www.vizio.com/vo420e.html

If you click on Tech Specs, then scroll to the bottom of the screen and you will find a table labeled Wall Mount Specifications. This should give you the measurements for all the screws you need.

Vizio VO420E- Picture gets darker then screen goes blank

I have the same issue, its caused by the program powersaver when running an HDMI port. if you turn on the TV and your HDMI device close to the same time the info transfered between them tells the TV that the HDMI device is in sleep mode so the tv starts dark then fades black to save power. easy fix, turn on either the tv or HDMI device and wait till it is fully on before tunring on the other.
