Question about Vizio VU42L 42 in. LCD TV
Unit made high pitch sound after a/v went away. Unplugged to turn off then turned on with power button and noise went away but still no A/v. Power button won't turn the unit off. Checked 24, 12 & 5vdc on power board all ok. No capacitors seem to be leeking. Led's still operating as glow from screen is good and both the inverter oscillators still humming.
Is it the power board digital cicuits or the control board? I need to buy one or the other and am trying to determine where to best spend my money. Please help!
By given symptoms, it seems main board (digital board) is defective.
Because power supply board is giving correct volts on output connectors, no capacitors are leaky, back light inverters are producing back light that means power board is just fine and working properly.
(lcd) controller board has nothing to do with high pitch sound nor it can interfere on-off function of tv that controls by system control chip mounted on main board. LCD Controller Board job is to get video data for scaling and send it to lcd panel inbuilt internal large scaling circuits to control lcd pixels to make an image.
Replace main board to solve your tv problem.
Hope these info will help you.
